Publisher's Summary

Family always comes first.

When successful magical researcher Ellie Alwood finds her sister, Jana, murdered in their living room, her entire world is turned upside down. Jana’s killer is a siekewa, a soul broker, who has claimed her soul for not holding up her end of a bargain. To save her sister, Ellie makes a deal with the creature: Jana’s eternal soul for an enchanted stone.

The stone belongs to the soul collectors, the spirit guides that lead the deceased to the afterlife. If they won’t give her the stone, Ellie will have to steal it.

As she gets closer to her goal, she learns that giving the stone to a siekewa will put her entire world in danger. She will have to choose whether or not she is willing to put thousands of lives at risk or give up on her little sister.

Fantastic!

L.D. Greenwood does a phenomenal job with this story and it’s characters. I was hooked from beginning to the end with every twist and turn. Elle and Chester have great chemistry and I am hoping in future books we get to see them together, although the cliff hanger at the end has me wondering. Meghan Kelly’s melodic voice brings the listener easily into the story and gives a smooth transition between each character. Love, love, loved it!

Wayward Soul

I have never read a book with this kind of concept and have to say I am happy I tried it out. How the great beyond was created was such a sad story because of a mistake but eventually it was able to work its way out. The characters in this book had so much depth and listening you felt like you were there right along with them. I really enjoyed listening to this book and can’t wait to see what comes next in the mid series.

Really Enjoyable! Great Narrator..

One of the biggest things I have found listening to audiobooks is if you have a bad narrator you just can't stand to listen even if it's a great book. Meghan Kelly was wonderful. I like the different ranges she made to bring characters to life. I could imagine the amazing characters the author was trying to portray.
The story of Fate and Hope I liked. Also just trying to help the people you love the best you know how. It was a short, fun listen for me. Not really anything steamy going on in the book for people that are looking for that kind thing. I did like it though.

I'm hooked

This is a really good book! I listened mainly because l love the way Meghan Kelly narrates but l have to say this storyline was quite unique. l found myself attached to the main character early on and interested in her "sight" and magic abilities. lt has captured my imagination and now l am really looking forward to the next in this series. Talk about the cat amoungst the pigeons!

Entertaining!

Paranormal is not my usual listen, but sometimes I like to step out of my comfort zone and change things up. This debut novel by LD Greenwood kept me listening and completely enthralled in Ellie's life! Ellie comes home to find her sister, Jana, dead at the hands of a soul broker. When she exchanges her sister's life for the retrieval of a stone, Ellie enters into a world of magic and deceit. So much happens in this magical realm, from meeting the Goddess Fate and hearing her story as well as the underlying feelings Ellie develops for Chester, her guide. Ellie's journey puts family first, but she does find that there is a lot more going on than meets the eye. Will she be able to save Jana's soul? Can she get the stone from a soul collector? What will the cost be in the end? It's got a lot going on, a little suspense, a little love and a whole lot of interesting characters sure to keep you entertained. It leaves us wide open for book 2 and I am looking forward to it!

Meghan Kelly is a go to narrator for me. I normally listen to her in a romantic setting, but this book shows her versatility. She brings the story a vibrancy with the many characters she has to perform. Her sensitivity shows with Chester and his child, and then turns into the evilness when dealing with the soul broker. Her intuitiveness gives each character the perfect personality and is like listening to a movie!

Great Start

This was a really great light haunting and unique story. Ellie comes home to find her sister dead in their living room because she made a deal with a Soul Broker and didn’t hold up her end of it. In order to save her, she must collect an eternal stone and possibly end the world in the process. I really liked Ellie’s personality. She’s compassionate, strong willed, loyal, and protective. The world building of The Great Beyond was amazing and I felt like I was transported there myself as the story unfolded. This book was filled with suspense, conflict, action, and a touch of romance. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Meghan did a really good job with this narration. While capturing every emotion, she had a calming and soothing voice that was easy to listen to. She gave each character their own voice and really kept you hooked from start to finish with her performance.

Great World-building

I give any author props for really thinking out of the box and writing something different, and L.D. Greenwood did just that with Wayward Soul. I've never read anything like it. The world-building was excellent. Everything made sense within the world created, and I loved seeing how everything unfolded in the story for Ellie and Chester. I felt myself wanting more just based on the uniqueness of the story alone. Add in a misunderstood villain who is hard to hate and a main character who is destined for greatness, despite her flaws, and all things mystical and magical, and I was hooked.

My only criticism came with the voice of the main character. Now, I don't know if that was because of the audiobook's narrator or the author's writing style (maybe a combination of both), but Ellie sounded very young to me at times. When I started reading/listening, I actually though she was in her teens and this was a YA read, which also would have been fine. But then, Ellie states she's a college professor and is working on some crucial addiction research, and I was a bit shocked at her age. She sounded much younger to me.

Still, that critique didn't take away from all the greatness to the book. I was hoping book 2 would be in audio, too, but since it isn't, I'll be ordering the paperback to continue the story. I simply can't wait too long to know what happens next!

Exciting

At least, that's what Ellie has always told herself.
Now, her beliefs are going to be tested. When she comes across a scene that shakes the foundation of her life, she has to decide what is more important, saving the world or her sister.
How much is a single soul worth?
Get it now to find out.

This book is a little slow moving and very detailed. I liked it. It is exciting and it is keeping me engaged, I am looking forward to the next book. I recommend this book but I still wanted to warn you too!

Love the fantasy

Love this different type of fantasy romance. This was a different twist on the fates and witches and the play on life and death. Can't wait to see what comes next on this story. Meghan Kelly did a wonderful job narrating and bringing this story to life. I recommend this book, loved it.

Wayward Soul

Wayward Soul by L.D. Greenwood is a paranormal fantasy that I listened to on audio narrated by Meghan Kelly.

This is the first book of L.D.’s that I have read and it definitely won’t by my last. The book does end on a cliffhanger but that’s not a surprise since it is in a trilogy. I look forward to reading the second book Wayward Hope.

Meghan did a great job on the narration. She makes it really easy to follow along with the story.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves Paranormal or Fantasy.

What a Way to Start!

Wayward Soul was a nice mix of magic and paranormal. There wasn't a lot of romance (maybe 1% of the book had a romantic element) and it was a nice change of pace for me. This book grabbed me from the first scene and didn't let me go for 5 and a half hours. There was mystery, adventure and magic. Meghan Kelly was amazing. Personally, the voice for Ellie was a little younger than the image I had in my head, but this was a great start to a series and I have high expectations for the next one!

There’s a lot going on in here

Where to start?! Great storyline and really good strong characters. I do love a bad ass leading lady! There’s so much to this book. Meghan does an incredible job with the narration.
