For much of his life, historian Howard Zinn chronicled American history from the bottom up, throwing out the official version taught in schools - with its emphasis on great men in high places - to focus on the street, the home, and the workplace. Known for its lively, clear prose as well as its scholarly research, A People's History of the United States is the only volume to tell America's story from the point of view of - and in the words of - America's women, factory workers, African-Americans, Native Americans, the working poor, and immigrant laborers.

As it was in Anna Karenina, Madame Bovary, and Othello, so it is in life. Most forms of private vice and public evil are kindled and sustained by lies. Acts of adultery and other personal betrayals, financial fraud, government corruption - even murder and genocide - generally require an additional moral defect: a willingness to lie. In Lying, bestselling author and neuroscientist Sam Harris argues that we can radically simplify our lives and improve society by merely telling the truth in situations where others often lie.

Story
In this short book, Sam Harris and Maajid Nawaz invite you to join an urgently needed conversation: Is Islam a religion of peace or war? Is it amenable to reform? Why do so many Muslims seem drawn to extremism? What do words like Islamism, jihadism, and fundamentalism mean in today's world? Remarkable for the breadth and depth of its analysis, this dialogue between a famous atheist and a former radical is all the more startling for its decorum. Harris and Nawaz have produced something genuinely new: they engage one of the most polarizing issues of our time - fearlessly and fully - and actually make progress.

Publisher's Summary
Liberals are all about love. They love poor people…as long as they stay poor.
They love choice…as long as it's not in education, energy, healthcare, or commerce.
They love rights…as long as we're not talking about the rights of the unborn.
They love black people…as long as they stay on the Democrat plantation.
So they just love Alfonzo Rachel.
Weapon of A.S.S. (American Socialist States) Destruction obliterates liberal lies - from the so-called "party switch" to the money-grubbing self-righteousness of the green movement. Poverty pimps, Afrocentrics, RINOs, Demon-crats, whatevuh...all of you jive turkeys better watch out! 'Cause Zo's about to drop some truth bombs up in here!

Zo hit it
Have you listened to any of Alfonzo Rachel’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I've listened to Zo on YouTube before and decided to get his book to get all his "rants" in one place. He has given a lot of thought to what he says and makes a lot of sense. If you don't agree with him but remain a little open-minded then you can appreciate where he comes from and what he says.

Loved it!
I loved listening to this guy on youtube and I was happy to find his book brought all the best parts of his show into one place. He is well researched and does a good job making sure that his message is very clear to all that listen. I wish we could get everyone in this country to listen to his book all the way through. There would be many who would chose to continue in their ways I am sure, but I can't help but feel it would greatly change the direction this country is going in for the good as many would find a change of heart.

Zo is great showing fault in the liberal narrative
Heard about this book through Zo's Youtube videos. A very entertaining and thought provoking take on conservatism vs. liberalism. He is very good at creating analogies that make the point in an entertaining way. The chapter on religion was a little much for me to get through, but the rest of the book was thoroughly enjoyable.

Great listen!
Would you listen to Weapon of A.S.S. Destruction again? Why?
Most likely I'll listen to it again. Mr. Rachel presents his conservativism with intelligence, reason and passion. He gives God the glory, follows Jesus and is pretty funny.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The liberal ideology is my favorite character. Without it, Alfonso Rachel wouldn't have much to slam and we wouldn't have this great book!!
What does Alfonzo Rachel bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Alfonso Rachel's passion for sticking up for what is right really comes out in this presentation. I doubt it would be as good if I had use my imagination to hear his voice.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I listen in the car mostly. So a one-sitting listen wouldn't work for me, but I didn't want to stop once I started.

In 2012 Gloom, A New Conservative Talent Emerges
Move over Thomas Sowell, Alfonzo Rachel is now on the scene and sugar coating the truth is not his specialty. Confronting the myths confronting and crippling modern America this is a must read for any conservative (or concerned American) wanting to know how to get America back on track.
His insights into why the media and Hollywood have been taken over by the liberal elite are also quite brilliant. He also presents very well thought out ideas on the way forward for the Republican party in post Obama 2012 victory, because this book is the kick in the butt that the GOP needs.

Very good clarification between conservative and libertarianism
Alfonzo is gifted in communication of concepts but proves to be an accomplished thinker and deep student of multiple disciplines. He is not widespread enough as many could really benefit the challenge of current ideas he puts forth. My ideas were and are challenged as well. A great conservative perspective from ZoNation!
I enjoyed this book a lot & I plan to get a hard copy (today) to use when reaching out to younger people. A good reference point. Much more enjoyable listening to than the traditional conservative rallying point books written by Mark Levin (still great books though). I thought some of the Biblical references and applications were “unique” but maybe I missed something even though I’ve read it by listening to it for four years now on the yearly Daily Audio Bible podcast. All in all, a really good effort and the last chapter on dealing with Libertarian perspectives was really helpful. Thanks Zo! (Run for office, you’ve got a lot of backers both emotional & financial! California needs someone like you!!!)
