Talk about being pleasantly surprised!

The plotline through me for a loop. This isn't how portal adventures start! I guess all you need is a portal, and the rest is up to the author's imagination. Well I took that ride and enjoyed it. This is a different play on the portal adventure but it works, it totally works! There is a lot fighting, some sexy times, some magical stuff and political maneuvering going on and keeping the chaos on high.

This was a good adventure that was well written and well narrated. Looking forward to book 2.

Surpassed my expectations!

I read the blurb for the series and knew I had to check it out! It has the Viking feel to it. But it is so much more!
There obviously Norse mythos involved in it but the author didn't stop there. He brought in and mixed his own Lore with some pretty cool nuances.

The fighting is pretty epic with normal shields, swords and archery, but there is also the power called Prime. I honestly wish I could have thought of using prime as the name for magic or power but Tyman won this race for an epic name for his magic/power source!

I admit that I was a little meh at the beginning since it seemed like the MC might be just a barbarian type but he is so much more. His mind sharp and less primal unlike a lot of his people. Like one of his friends who seems to just want to be drunk all the time... it can be funny at times but other times I am wondering how he has a position of leadership over his squad of men... And it is obvious why he seems so stupid all the time. But I guess that is kind of just how ravagers tend to be.

When you get past all of that, you find a rich world of plots and intrigue! Like I said before, Tyman is weaving a web of lore that I can't wait to see more of!

The MC's women are also great. Not weaklings who can't stand on their own. But they mind getting swept off their feet once in a while!

Maeve does an amazing job with narration and character voices and accents! I love the Dark Elves's accents!

I'm going to shut up now and let you all experience this fun adventure for yourselves!

A good start.

I really enjoyed Tyman's other work Growth Hero and while I do like that one more this book was still good. The author did a good job with both the characters and the world building and I am looking forward to book 2. The narration was great too Maeve York did a great job and can't wait for more.

A well written Anti-hero MC

If you enjoy old-school Conan the Barbarian-esque Sword and Sorcery and the brutal indifference to boot then this story is for you. This story was a pleasant surprise, and I'm looking forward to the next book.

What a book!

This is one of those sleeper books. I read this on a whim and very shortly got involved in the story. I got sucked into the characters and couldn't put it down.
One thing that I was not happy about was the ending. I thought it was cold blooded!
The narrator did a fantastic job of bringing this book to life. She was able to effectively present many different people. She drew you into establishing a connection with the characters. This is very evident in the end of the story.
I now have to wait for the next book.
