Publisher's Summary

When Christine Bender meets widowed Bishop Monroe Burkholder, it's love at first sight. But Preacher Amos finds him too good to be true and is determined to find out what's behind his sudden, unannounced arrival. Still, the colony needs a new bishop, and everyone is excited to have a younger, more progressive leader.

As for Christine, Monroe returns her affection, but her bubble is soon burst when a young woman half his age arrives. Leola Duff claims Monroe ruined her, and she now intends to make an honest man of him. But throughout the process of discovering the truth about Leola's claims, Christine never doubts that Monroe is the fine man she believes him to be - and never wavers in her faith that all will work out as it should. When Monroe is forced to confess the truth before the entire congregation, he can only pray that open hearts and minds will prevail, allowing him a future at Promise Lodge - and with Christine.

sweet story

Listen or read these books in order. This is book three. Great story and great characters. If you like Amish stories this is a different type of story.

Another great book

Thank you Charlotte for not disappointing us with the continuing story from the last book. After some of the other reviews I was a little concerned I would be disappointed with this book. I am very happy to say that was not true at all. I look forward to starting the next book to see what happens next.

Read a few books in the series… just not up to par

Author gets you interested in the happenings of characters and then just doesn’t give you anymore about them. For example, Roman is interested in young Mary Kate, in the book prior… her father disapproves of the marriage proposal… the book ends, no conclusion to their story. The next book they are married, without addressing her fathers disapproval… and they are never really mentioned again. I wasted two credit to hear a conclusion to this story that wasn’t wrapped up in either book!

Puts my ❤️ in the right place.

I really enjoy how Charlotte Hubbard’s books have such a focus on God in every different aspect of the characters life. That is how it should be. When I was a teenager I remember my dad telling me what I watch or listen to will affect me. I didn’t believe him-I was a teenager after all! Hahaha But, as an adult, I know it is completely true. When I listen to these books while walking, gardening, working & more, I am constantly reminded of our Lord and how He is important, present and in control of every single thing and aspect of our lives. It feels good to wrap my heart in that throughout the day while listening to an entertaining story and also becoming educated in the ways of the Amish. Thank you for writing these precious books & making them available in audio format!!!!!
