Weekend Warriors
I love this book and I really like the series. My only complaint and it is a big one. Why would anyone believe that a woman and man between the ages of 60 and 65 would sound like a 80 year old shaky and frail person. It is hard to get past the voices of Miya and James. I have decided to read the rest of the series because the way these people are interpreted by the reader is driving me crazy. I am 62 Years old and if I ever sound like that I am going to jump under a bus!!!

HIDDEN TREASURE ON PAR W/ "IN DEATH" SERIES
NO SPOILERS
NOTE: THIS IS A SERIES REVIEW NOT INDIVIDUAL BOOK!
I started reading the Sisterhood series years ago and stopped reading because my choice of genre changed. I recently decided to pick up the book where I left off as an audible read. I have now completed the entire series to date and have to give it my highest recommendation and to put Fern Michaels/Laural Merlington on par with the J. D. Robb/ Susan Ericksen Team
I've stated before I prefer to recommend series not individual books, this series is a Hidden Treasure!. I'm surprised at how few Audible readers have yet to discovered it. I know I'm going out on a limb to compare it favorably to J. D. Robbs and Susan Erickson "In Death" Series, but I feel I have good reason. The Sisterhood is rich with characters exquisitely portrayed by Laural Merlington on par with Susan Erickson (In Death) a very hard act to follow. The story premise: very bad people have escaped the long arm of the law and have "gotten away" with despicable crimes. The reappearing cast of damaged undeniably interesting and unique women with male counterparts equally unique and interesting, band together to see justice is served. It is vigilantism and these women are sometimes quite graphic in the mode chosen to exact revenge, but as they say, the punishment fits the crime. The main character Myra has untold wealth and her lover/main squeeze Charles is a "retired" MI5 agent who still has close ties to the Queen of England. They use their own "Control Center" to gather a "Sisterhood" of women, women picked because each has her own horrific backstory where justice has not been served. These women in subsequent books get to enact their own "justice" towards the perpetrator of the despicable crimes that has devastated and impacted their individual life's.
It sounds pretty heavy and there is drama! but the repartee between our ladies and men are laugh out loud sometimes hilarious fun. There is an element of fantasy, humor, romance/love and mystery/thriller in every book. Fern Michael's "The Sisterhood" has a rich tapestry of characters with storylines and characters that evolve throughout the series, unique plotlines and a bond of sisterhood that is enviable.. These elements and many more, lead me to give this series my highest recommendation... "Do Not Read Sisterhood, Listen to It" Laural Merlington adds a dimension by her imbued characterization of each man and women that can not be found in the reading. The last book to date in this series "Kiss and Tell" gives the boys in this series their own segue way into Ms. Michael's new miniseries "The Brotherhood" but I urge you to start at Sisterhood Number 1 "Weekend Warrior Revenge of the Sisterhood" special note first book is a little heavier being the purpose is heavily weighted in establishing the series plotlines but each book gets a little more humorous, wait till you meet Anne...what a hoot! .
"The Sisterhood" is an absolutely 'Must Have' in your collection particularly if you love J. D. Robbs "In Death" series. As with "In Death" each book has a multi-genre and unique plot line, the main character Myra is damaged with devastating back story, untold wealth at her disposal and a unrivaled drive for "justice" (just not the legal kind) Myra's lover Charles has spy skills and a control center akin to Rork's and lastly but definitely not least a plethora of delightful and humorous characters brought to life and exquisitely portrayed by the superb talents of Laural Merlington! Sound familiar...

Worst book I've ever bought
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The Audible blurb does not make it clear that this book is about a group of women who take cold-blooded, graphic revenge on men. Apparently tracking down rapists, drugging them and castrating them is empowering and even light-hearted. In addition, the author couldn't be bothered to do a 3 minute Google search on anything. Belgian Malinois dogs do not weigh 110 pounds unless they're 35 pounds or more overweight. Even a really good make-up artist cannot make Caucasian and African-American women up well enough to pass as Chinese IN China. "Biker dive bars" rarely serve "luscious steaks, plump baked potatoes and delicious salads". The whole book is completely implausible and often laughable, not in a good way.
Would you ever listen to anything by Fern Michaels again?
No way. No possible way.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Laural Merlington?
Maybe. Her accents were over the top and seemed to come and go. There are many better narrators.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Weekend Warriors?
All of them.

Once I started this series I am just plowing through them all; the sisterhood. I listen to and from work and find myself in the parking lot getting one more paragraph in. The story is great. The narrator does a wonderful job in my opinion given male voices are very difficult for women. She does great! Once you get to about the 4th or 5th one? hard to figure out the next in the series. I goggled Fern Michaels series and got a list to help me figure out which one was next; since a few of them do not have the sisterhood in the title. Like Hokus Pokus. I really am enjoying them all.

Good story, awful narrator
I'm working on reading all the Sisterhood books. All this time, I thought Fern Michaels wrote the typical romance/bodice buster books. Finally I was introduced to the Sisterhood and I'm hooked. Love them and want to read all of them. I've read several now...READ, not listened. I’ve listened to this one and have bought more audiobooks that are waiting on me. If I don’t return them....
If I’m going to listen to another one, I have to get past the narrator, Laurel Merlington. She has the shaky, trembly voice of an elderly woman who smoked and drank throughout her life, in spite of the fact that several of the women are in their 20s and 30s. Men sound like they've got something stuck in their throat and are strangling. Their voices are more of a growl or a sound squeezed out of their throat. It's annoying and not appropriate to the storyline which consists of characters very young to older.
It’s annoying when authors don’t listen to their audiobooks and are stuck on making the same mistake over and over..in this case for a series of 29 books. How could anybody want this cast of so many characters to sound so awful?
But this narrator narrates all the Sisterhood books so I have to suck it up if I want to listen to them. I don’t know if I can because this woman’s voice is downright distracting.

Enjoyed every minute!
Loved it and now I want to read more of the series. The ladies are feisty but compassionate and you hope all turns out well..although they are commititng crimes!
Only minor irritation was the 'voice' for their tech guy who is English..not a good accent and maybe a man voicing his lines would have enhanced the whole narrative...just my (English) opinion, would have been a great contrast to all the ladies that are read superbly x

Never a dull moment
This fast-paced and well told story about a group of bitter and dangerous women getting together and starting to take revenge on the men who've wronged them kept me very well entertained throughout it. Friendship, a secret society, danger and risky but well-hatched plans put into action to take down evil-doers who can't be punished by law made Weekend Warriors a gripping and exciting listen for me, and also made me look forward to some similar action-packed and intriguing experiences with the rest of the books in this series.
