Am I friends with JP Cane? Ha! That's laughable. Besides the fact that he’s adopted some far-fetched notion from the movie When Harry Met Sally that says men and women can't be friends and work together, it’s safe to say we're not friends. He's annoyingly loud, obnoxiously handsome, and has made an art out of poking all my hot buttons...multiple times a day. So you can imagine how disgruntled I am when I not only have to fly to San Francisco with him for work, but stay in the same penthouse. Yup, we're sharing the same air, 24-7. We're talking full-fledged working roommates.

The first time I met Merrick Crawford was during my job interview. Well, technically, I’d met him 20 minutes earlier when he’d barged into a fitting room a few doors down from my appointment. I yelled. He yelled. After an argument while standing in my bra, I proceeded to smash the door into the gorgeous jerk, trying to yank it shut. As you might imagine, I was freaked out when I discovered that the rude guy was my potential new boss. Yet he didn’t seem to recognize me. Or so I thought.... Until we wound up bickering again during my interview and he told me to go sniff my armpit.

I’m a single female who’s tired of relationships ruining my life. However, there are times when a date would be helpful. If you’re a single man, preferably mid-20s to late-30s, and are in a similar situation, we might be a match. Candidate must be handsome, charming, and willing to pretend to have feelings for me (on a sliding scale, as the event requires). Ability to discuss a wide variety of topics is a plus. Must have your own transportation and a (legal) job. In exchange for your time, I will give you mine. If interested, please email me. Time is of the essence.

He's a billionaire heir. A grump supreme. Hater of people. Bigger hater of peopling with people. And my new fake boyfriend. "Emotionally unavailable" doesn’t even begin to describe Hayes Rutherford. He has more defenses than a nuclear missile silo. And he’s the ultimate catch of the century. At least, according to his bank statement. My job’s simple: Keep all interested ladies away from the walled-off heir, by pretending to be his one true love. But you know what they say about fake-dating a billionaire: It’s all fun and games, until the scandals start.

I thought my invitation was a birthday present from my best friend. The dress, the limousine, the red carpet...I thought they were meant for me. That was mistake number one. Then my date arrives, all gleaming cufflinks and tousled hair, steely blue eyes, and a body honed to masculine precision. Arrogant. Charming. Panty-melting. And melt, they do. Hanky-panky with a rich hottie in the back room of the event I'm crashing? Don't mind if I do.

I've been dreading this for a year. Okay, that's a lie. I've been dreading this reunion since we graduated high school 10 years ago. So why am I here, standing outside the door like the eternal wallflower I am? I'd say it's because my younger sister browbeat me into it, but the truth is, I'm tired of being a nobody. Of never taking a risk with myself and my life. And...well...maybe I'm also hoping to see him. The tall, insanely gorgeous man walking my way now. Oliver Fritz is regarded as one of Boston's sexiest doctors. I know him as the former god of our school.

I was never supposed to see him again. Him being the man wearing the perfectly tailored suit, who oozed an intoxicating mixture of wealth, rebellion, and sex appeal. One night. No strings. No names. Still riding the high from last night, I walk in to meet my new client, and he’s wearing that same dangerous smirk. Yes, I’m consulting for Callahan Sharpe. That Callahan Sharpe. Billionaire heir who abides by no rules, bucks convention, and is determined to complete one final project to honor his late father’s legacy. Luckily, and unluckily for me, I’m tasked to help.

I knocked up my best friend's sister. Let's start with how she decided to inform me and Pacey the news...together. Imagine that nightmare. I was going into what I thought was a hockey marketing meeting, and then bam! I'm going to be a dad and my best friend/teammate is attempting to imprint my face with his fist. Threats were tossed around, friendships were revoked, and then I was marched up to her apartment, suitcases in hand, and forced to live with her so I could take care of her every need. Now I'm finding it harder and harder not to fall for my best friend's little sister.

I used to believe in what we do at Mayberry Matchmakers, but now? Love is just another four-letter word. Too bad my grandmother hasn’t gotten the memo. When tech billionaire Rory Byrne approaches us, wanting to develop the matchmaking app my sister and I dreamed up (and Nana shot down), she jumps at the chance. My grandmother is nothing if not opportunistic. Of course, there’s a catch. She’ll only do it if Rory lets us matchmake him the old-fashioned way. He’s going to say no. Please God, let him say no. The last thing I want to do is matchmake an entitled rich jerk.

Publisher's Summary
Billionaire businessman in need of a fake fiancée...
It should be the easiest job ever for an out-of-work actress, right?
All I have to do is pose as Grant Caldwell (the Third)’s fiancée for a fancy-pants weekend in the Hamptons. Easy. Wear designer clothing and sip champagne? Don’t mind if I do. Flirting with Grant? It’s so delicious I should be paying him.
Nothing can go wrong as long as I can keep my hands off of him.
But that’s the hard part. And I do mean hard.
Because Grant is sexy. And bossy. And surprisingly sweet, a real rarity in his pretentious family.
Oops. I’m not as good at faking it as I thought. Or maybe they call this method acting. Because it’s getting harder to figure out where my character ends and I begin....
It just might be the role of a lifetime.
Weekend Wife is a stand-alone romantic comedy with a sexy billionaire, a sassy heroine, and a happily ever after.

Sassy in the City!!
This was an adorable Fake Fiancée Romantic Comedy!
The storyline begins with the tineold cliché.' Billionaire businessman in need of a fake fiancée...'
However, I absolutely love clichés and I loved this romantic comedy.
This was a fun, light hearted listen.
I actually found myself randomly laughing as I listened to this audio.
The narrators, Laura English, Gavin McAllister actually did a great job i portraying the characters.

A goofy and irresistible rom-com
If you want a sexy and fun rom-com, this is the one for you. I immediately loved the optimistic, funny, vulnerable heroine Leah. This writer Erin McCarthy is new to me, but she has a real talent for characterization, humor, and sly references to rom-com movies such as “Overboard” and “Pretty Woman”. Yes, the fake relationship trope is cliché, but this book breathes new life into it, especially with the hot rich guy, Grant, who is bossy but respectful and talented in the bedroom. Grant has a good deal of depth to his character as well. I love how the author lets us get into the main characters’ heads with the alternating first person perspective. The initial sexy times happen quickly, but I love the restrained number of love scenes in the audiobook. It is a shorter novel at 7.5 hours, but I thought it was the perfect length and had a satisfying ending. I am eagerly anticipating future books starring the heroine’s friends. I highly recommend this to all fans of steamy rom-coms.
I have never listened to this pair of narrators before (Laura English and Gavin McAllister), but they really impressed me with their comic timing, vivacious delivery, and all-around talent. The two narrators did not match each other’s character voices well, but I don’t expect that in an audiobook. Each of them was very good at men’s and women’s voices. I was very pleased at how each of them narrated their own featured characters: Laura English for Leah’s character and Gavin McAllister for Grant’s character. I will definitely look up more books narrated by these talented people.
I requested and received a free audiocode from the Flock group, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Sassy in the City - Book 1 (can be a standalone)
Hello - this is a new series!?! OMG - that makes me even happier, I can't wait for more! While I love most any type of romance I am obsessed with rom-com's right now and Erin McCarthy delivers in a BIG way! Well written and perfect with dual narration - This book comes to life in this audio version! Our main characters are Grant and Leah. First Grant just sounds like a richy rich guy name so well done there from the start - meets and is infatuated with waitress / server Leah. These two come from completely opposite worlds but I love how they both are so down to earth and don't judge each other based on finances, although finances are an underlying issue from time to time along with other issues that have caused these characters to build up walls.
As for this read - it has everything I could want in a good rom-com. Well written, light hearted, sweet AND steamy and of course laugh out loud moments. Leah is fantastically sassy and Grant's family had me laughing aloud. A beautiful HEA that's heart warming and hopeful. Can't wait to see what's next!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I voluntarily provided this review.

This is the first book in the Sassy in the City series. This is a great start to the series. I loved Grant and Leah's story. Leah is such a beautiful character, colorful, feisty, and smart. Grant is very handsome, and supportive. The story is sweet, sexy, and funny. The supporting characters are interesting. This is a great fake Fiancée Romantic Comedy. So much fun! LOL Romcom you can’t miss!
Weekend Wife, Sassy In The City Book 1 by Erin McCarthy
Narrated by Laura English and Gavin McAllister
This book was such a comedic relief that I didn’t realize I needed! If you need a light hearted Laugh Out Loud audiobook, look no further. This is one Romcom you don’t want to miss.
Leah is your typical struggling actress trying her hardest to life her dream of making it big in the Big Apple. She’s had some shows but is still working at achieving success so she highlights at a diner where other aspiring actors work. A quirky diner where the staff is encouraged to sing and act out. Leah has a crush on a businessman who comes into the diner weekly for his pancake fix and always tries flirting with him but Grant is the businessman through and through so it doesn’t seem to go anywhere when she tries engaging him for more.
Grant loves his emotional past to the diner he frequents weekly but he thinks it’s time to end his foolishness so he leaves a very generous tip for server whose caught his eye during the months he has gone to the diner and gets up to leave.
When Leah sees the tip she immediately believes it to be a mistake and runs after him.
This is where the story begins. When after helping Leah home; he decides to hire her to play his girlfriend for a family weekend.
Right from the start these two are kismet hearts of each other but they don’t see it immediately.
We get to see a bunch of shenanigans in the Caldwell estate over the weekend as we see these two grow fonder of each other. All while dealing with extremely hilarious family members. I’m still in tears from laughter how there story enfolds.
Laura English handles the sassy, creative and spunky Leah to a “T” like she channels her spirit. And Gavin McAllister was the distinguished gentleman that was Grant Caldwell the Third. The cast of crazy family members were all acted out fabulous in this fun, entertaining book.

I laughed hard.
I got this audiobook via a promo code from The Flock and this is my voluntary review.
I came in not knowing what to expect, having never read this author before and I absolutely loved getting to know Leah and Grant, together they're just melting my heart. Leah, a struggling actress, has a crush on a customer at the diner where she works. Grant is the sexy, wealthy man she fantasises about, but what would a guy like him want with a girl like her? Every Wednesday, Grant has been coming to the diner on a weekly basis for the past 11 months because of his crush on waitress/aspiring actress Leah. He does so to put his "self-control" to the test. When they are thrown together by chance, their chemistry is off the charts. Grant has a proposal for Leah, and she is thrilled to be able to spend time with him. These two were completely smitten with each other but didn't want to admit it. Everything about this story was fantastic.

Leah works in a diner. Grant come in Wed for breakfast
she moons over him. one day he left a big tip and she chases him he's hit by a cab. he takes her home to rest. they kinda chat and text. he takes her home to meet parents. that is a who crap show crazy family.
they fight and break up.. story wasn't bad but kinda dragged on during the middle and the ending was short and felt like something was missing.
the narrators are both new to me.
i really enjoyed Gavin. great voice amazing with characters.
Laura I had a hard time with her male voice. it sounded more like a kid. i hope it was only with this book. i hope to hear another book she does to get a better feel.her other characters were good.
if it wasn't for the story I may have not finished.

My Thoughts on Weekend Wife
I haven’t read many books by Erin McCarthy, but after reading this one I would definitely be open to checking out more. I found myself liking both main characters. Leah and Grant were very different. She was a waitress, and he was a billionaire. She had a happy childhood with loving parents, he was raised by the nanny. What brought them together was a once-a-week breakfast at the diner she works at. One day a crazy chain of events leads them to changing their relationship from waitress/diner to lovers. And things just keep changing and developing from there. I liked that the progression of their relationship is clear and makes sense. It flows really well and was highly entertaining. I think their feelings may have escalated quickly, but it didn’t come from nowhere. There were talks, conversations, questionnaires even that helped them get to know each other. There just also happened to be a contract that hurt a lot more than it helped anything. But overall, it was a good story and was really well narrated. I loved the energy that the female narrator brought to the character. Leah was very animated from the way she was written by the author, I was happy to hear the narrator bring that same energy. I liked the male narrator, Gavin McAllister, as well, definitely no complaints, he just didn’t quite stand out as perfect for his character the way that Laura English (a new to me narrator) was perfect for her character Leah.

Grant and Leah!
Grant is focused on managing the family business and doesn’t have the time or energy for a relationship. When his position at the firm is in jeopardy if he isn’t in a committed relationship, he decides a fake girlfriend is the solution to his problems and who better than the waitress he spent a steamy evening with.
Until Leah’s acting career gets liftoff she works as a waitress at a relationship. When Grant asks her to pretend to be his girlfriend for a weekend visit to his parents it should like the vacation she needs. What could possibly go wrong?
What a fun story this turned out to be as neither Leah nor Grant are looking for a relationship but sometimes life has other plans. Home chemistry, humorous banter and not only are Grant and Leah great characters but the secondary characters enhanced the story. I enjoyed the performance of the narrators as they did a great job as not only with Grant and Leah but the rest of the characters as well. 🎧 Audiobook Obsession

5 stars for the audiobook!
I had read the ebook version of the story about 2 years ago, and I liked it, but the audiobook version was so much more fun. The story itself combines fake relationship and billionaire tropes, along with some witty writing and likable main characters (especially compared to most of Grant’s family).
The audiobook is performed by Laura English and Gavin McAllister, both new-to-me narrators, and they did an amazing job. I would definitely listen to more by the author and/or narrators in the future.

Funny and romantic!
Just when I needed a funny, easy, romantic listen, Erin McCarthy comes through with Weekend Wife! I absolutely loved her Fast Track audio series and was thrilled to see this release. Meet Leah. Starving actress, she is working at a diner where she has a crush on Grant, a regular. Serving him breakfast, while exciting for her even though his moods are not the best was a bright spot in her day. That is until he decides he is no longer going to frequent the diner, leaves her a big tip and walks out.Running after him, she injures herself and from there our story truly begins. These two have have such chemistry, it only makes sense to hire her to be his girlfriend for the weekend. He needs to get his family off his back. Funny, frustrating, crazy family, passionate, you name it and McCarthy weaves her story. Grant is a character. He is in love with Leah, but being afraid of commitment, leaves him stuck in his own head. Leah is ambitious, ready to take the role all the way, and at points we wonder, is she even acting? And hysterical family members, leaving us with our mouths hanging open, laughing and completely shocked at times. I loved this story with the "sassy" Leah! She had me at the first breakfast order!
Narrated by Laura English and Gavin McAllister, these two new to me narrators had my attention! English plays the sassy role to a "t" and creates the persona of Leah perfectly. She keeps her attitude in check, but we can feel her frustration and love pouring out through her voice. McAllister nails the part of Grant. Self confident, yet unsure, business like, yet alluring, this man has Grant's personality figured out. Together, their comedic timing and voices compliment each other and had my smiling the entire listen.
