Story
It's been three long years since Deadbreak. That's what everyone's calling it - the day the dead rose. Every day since then, Jeremiah Reid has had one goal: to make his way back to his daughter. With his four-legged companion, Joe, Jeremiah has to travel a lawless wasteland teeming with zombies, bandits, and worse, like people who put anchovies on pizza (you know who you are). It's a new world out there, and no one is safe. People are weary, cities are in ruin, supplies are scarce, and brains are on the menu.

It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Publisher's Summary
The tower has fallen. Survivors are scattered, scrambling to find safety and each other. The rest of the world comes into view as the threats continue to evolve. Elements of strength and hope start to emerge - but at what cost?
We’re Alive: Season 3 features 12 chapters packing performances and sound effects that rival movies and prove that modern audio drama is undead and well. Join our survivors as they band together, struggle to fortify a safe haven, and discover that zombies are far from the worst thing in a postapocalyptic world where the rules of human decency no longer apply.
Little food, little water, little hope - who is lucky enough to say, "We’re alive"?
Critic Reviews
"We’re Alive is a modern rendition of an old-school medium. Maintaining a style that is both retro and contemporary, the radio drama will give horror fans the campy, kitschy style they like, but it also provides a variety of characters and development to keep general audiences engaged.… Despite not being able to see the action, the excitement and intensity is still sustained through score and sound design. In some ways, the lack of visuals to accompany the audio creates more suspense. The narrator controls how much the audience knows, slowly teasing out information. Accompanying the drama are sparse moments of comedic relief.… Expressing a keen awareness of the zombie subgenre, many of the jokes come from familiar scenarios and tropes of zombie stories." Decent story, butt...
I would have loved to give the book, and the series an additional star, but the constant bickering between the majority of all the main characters is just a little too much. I can appreciate the stress and fear that would go along with a zombie apocalypse but the way the characters bicker back and forth comes off as very immature and childish. The story and the performances are pretty good and I do like the original take on the zombie apocalypse, so if you can get past the bickering and have a credit burning a hole in your pocket this is a decent selection.

Best zombie audiobooks I've listen to.
Would you listen to We’re Alive again? Why?
All of the season are amazing. Great job to the team. Can't wait for the next season.A movie would be Awesome!
What other book might you compare We’re Alive to and why?
Also listened to War Z. The voice acting on these series are far better.
Which character – as performed by full cast – was your favorite?
Burt and Chinwe are my favorite. Hope they come back and kick more butt. Scratch really did a good job getting under your skin.Everyone else also did an amazing job. Hats off to everyone.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The characters are pretty believable. Despite the idea that they were not the smartest survivors. They had a lot of luck to make it through.
Any additional comments?
You guys are at the top of my list for survival audio drama. Thank you for cutting my 6hr daily commute down.

Glad season three is here!
If you could sum up We’re Alive in three words, what would they be?
GREAT ZOMBIE STORY! I found this podcast originally on Audible when they put season 1 on audible without the commercials that are in the podcast. I listened to season 3 as the podcast because they didn't have it up on audible yet. Now that they have it, I'm listening to it the 2nd time and it's even better!
What was one of the most memorable moments of We’re Alive?
The last chapter when the characters are fighting 2 fronts and it seems they are going to loose. It's an amazing story and I can't wait to hear the 4th and last season!
Have you listened to any of full cast’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I had listen to this cast's performance in the other two season's of We're Alive. The cast is very awesome and you seem to get a mind's picture of each character, what they look like and their personality.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! But, you just can't do it in my field unless you are on a very good stretch of highway with not a lot of traffic and no stops.
Any additional comments?
Like I said before, I can't wait til they start the 4th season this fall, and I'll listen to the podcast, but I'll purchase it again when it becomes available on Audible. Thanks Audible!

Ridiculous
Kept zoning out and losing interest.
It’s easy enough to imagine hordes of grey, brain dead, reanimated corpses mumbling and shuffling about, just look at Parkhead forge on a Saturday.
But bullet proof super zombies is stumbled step too far. Even with these mark 2 zombies it’s not enough to beat the good guys as they seem to be unkillable too.

Getting better!
The sound effects and production are very good. There is still too much whining, complaining and shouting, but I found this episode better than the previous two. Despite
One thing I continue to dislike are the constant unpleasant comments about Scratch’s physical appearance- I know she is extremely unpleasant, but it smacks of misogyny. On the other hand, the brief insight into her background and a glimpse at a ‘human’ side to her, gave the story more depth - it would be a better piece of writing if this angle had been developed further.
However, despite the numerous inconsistencies in behaviour, the shortcomings in plot and lack of character development, I am quite enjoying this series.
