Incredible.

Lewis gets straight to the heart of what being Christian actually is. He hits the hard stuff swiftly and doesn't waste time. He uses solid logic around the issues he had as a believer and when he didn't believe. It's a fast listen and absolutely wonderful.

A jewel from C.S. Lewis

As a diehard fan of C.S. Lewis, I enjoy all of his books. This one, "What Christians Believe" is a concise review of the major doctrines of western Christianity - I never knew C.S. Lewis had written such a book. This little book covers what Christians believe in an entertaining, nonconfrontational, and informative manner. His simple, direct style makes some important concepts and ideas obvious, that otherwise had been dull and foggy. The narrator was excellent! His presentation was clear and soothing, but also lively and entertaining - it will never put you to sleep.

Brilliant

CS Lewis is brilliant and brilliantly explains Christianity.
I hope that everyone who reads his book or listens to the audiobook does themself the favour of being honest and allows the words to confront and challenge their beliefs.

SHORT BOOK BUT WORTH A LISTEN

I found this book very interesting and educational

It is a very short book (under 60 min) I was disapointed that it was not longer.

Some deep theology but presented in an interesting and clear maner.

It's pretty profound

Rated on Content

This was a tough listen for me on audio, but I will listen again. The content is true to C.S. Lewis and always an encouragement. He is able to present Jesus in a manner that cannot be argued.

The man was/is a gift from God.

I'll read everything he has ever written if I get the chance to do so. I'd read his grocery list given the opportunity.

In all the wisdom he so carefully passed along, I can't help but wonder.... what would he say to me? If I'd been so blessed as to be a personal friend to him, and he had seen my life... my faults, mistakes, kindness, selfishness, regret, grief, curiosity, longing for understanding... what C. S. Lewis, would you say to me? These writings have given me an understanding of things that I longed for, and could not seem to find. I thank you, good sir. But, there is just so much in life, and so much in my mind to reason with. I wish for just an hour to speak to you, before I face my judgement, for I fear that I may still harbor unjustifiable resentment towards our father who I know is blameless for my choices. But I know that, only in my mind. As it's the heart he looks at, I'm not so confident.

A brief explanation

While not a new work from Lewis, it's a good reminder of some of the more important parts of Mere Christianity. It's a good introduction to the faith for those not ready to take on the longer text.

A great listen for critics and Christians alike

CS Lewis does a great job of simply but clearly stating what Christians believe. I think this is a very important book. People that are thinking about pursuing the Christian faith, criticizing the Christian faith, or practicing the Christian faith already, should all equally read this book. As a Christian myself, I was challenged by several of the things stated in this book and it helped clarify some of the things that I do believe. It also gives me the tools to better talk to somebody who has questions or criticisms for christianity.

what a beautiful short read!

I absolutely love this. I'm going to give it another a couple more listens. Brother C.S. Lewis has a way of making faith so plain to understand how complex it truly is. It originates not from the thoughts of man but from such a magnificent God.

A valuable resource for Christians and informative for those who want to know!

This is a great book for those of us who struggle with witnessing to friends, foes and family!

Broken down to the really basic points of Christianity and without ‘bullying’ a person to believe. Listening to this narration by Ralph Cosham is really soothing and it is put over really well.

Definitely worth keeping this close to hand.

Rebellious - Repentance - Righteousness

As a Redeemed Christian, I am so glad I came across this book. I have learned of ways to help those willing to listen to sound reasoning about Who was Jesus, Why he came to die and What I believe as Believer.

Notable Points:
👉🏽Humans are not damaged creatures to be fixed but rebellious creatures that need to lay down their arms.
👉🏽Jesus came as God to do what only the ABSOLUTE can do.
👉🏽It’s a foolish and patronising statement to say that one accepts Jesus as a good moral teacher, He is either who He said He was and Is or a lunatic.

“I have come that they may have life in abundance…” John 10:10

May this book minister to your understanding💝

Clearest explanation of Christian belief ever

This is one of the clearest and fullest explanations of Christian belief I have ever read. The language can be 1940's but the ideas, explanations and illustrations are still very much of today. If you want to know what Christians actually (or are supposed to ) believe then listen to this book. Thoroughly recommend.
