I always look forward to Jodi Taylor's books about St. Mary's, and I think this will be one of my favorites. It's lighter than the last couple entries have been, but as always it contains the perfect mix of adventure, pathos and especially understated British humor.

Zara Ramm does a brilliant job of making Max and all her colleagues (co-conspirators?) come alive.If you're new to the series, start at the first book. You won't regret it!

Perfect marriage of great book and great reader

What made the experience of listening to What Could Possibly Go Wrong? the most enjoyable?

The layering of humor with edge of your seat adventure makes this book a winner. The humor keeps the sadder parts of the book from being too overwhelming, besides being laugh out loud funny. Additionally, Zara Ramm is the perfect voice for the main character, and she does the other characters beautifully, too.

What did you like best about this story?

The humor is the best part of the book. I was laughing out loud within the first two paragraphs, and there were many moments throughout the book when I really let loose and laughed. The baby mammoth part, for example, was so funny.

Which character – as performed by Zara Ramm – was your favorite?

There was no one favorite part, but the baby mammoth episode, as well as the witty banter back and forth between many of the characters, is just priceless. However, I could go on and on for "favorite parts"; it is just that kind of book.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Humorous adventures of don't-call-it-time travel, pod people.

This is my absolute favorite series of all time. What's more, my husband, who has hugely different reading tastes than I do, loves it. It's got something for everyone, well marinated in that witty, snarky British humor that I love.

Not a tv series

Ok I came to these books by accident,the title interested me. And I have enjoyed every one. Why no one has picked these up as a tv series I have no idea. The scripts would almost write themselves.

Hours of entertainment

Would you consider the audio edition of What Could Possibly Go Wrong? to be better than the print version?

I've never read any of the series all have been the audio editions. Zara Ramm brings the characters to life.

What was one of the most memorable moments of What Could Possibly Go Wrong??

Since I have no desire to spoil a section of the book I will simply say Mary, a pink blanket and of course the rock went through the window

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The entire series makes me laugh out loud.

Solid entry in the series

This book takes Max through the education of a new group of St Mary's trainees. As such, it's a bit episodic with various time periods offering chances for disaster. You learn new things about some of the continuing characters. Zara Ramm's narration as always is fantastic.

Sikes great new character, feisty, intelligent and willing to do anything to help

What does Zara Ramm bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Zara Ramm does a great job with both male and female voices which is really important.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The whole scene that involved Joan of Arc, terrifying.

This would be a great movie series or animated series, but only if they leave the book alone and don't rewrite it.

Yes, but this book gets it all right!

What did you love best about What Could Possibly Go Wrong??

The whole series is more of a series of delightful incidents that are (brilliantly) strung together by an ongoing story arc. But don't read the book for the long-term plot. Read it for the joy of each crisis that St. Mary's gets into and scrapes their way out of. It's a roller coaster from start to finish - and each mission stands out like a jewel in its setting.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Has to be Max, because she pulls it all together. But that doesn't mean that the other characters are any less of a joy. Taylor does a brilliant job of creating characters that really fit into the whole "inmates running the asylum" that is St. Mary's.

Have you listened to any of Zara Ramm’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Fully consistent with all her other performances - and since her past work sets that bar high, that's definitely praise. She takes just the right tone for the series.

Just try this series. You won't regret it. Unless you like deep, dark, and brooding Serious Fiction. Strap in and enjoy the ride.

Twists and Turns and Typical Max

Great Book. Well-paced, interesting facts, likeable characters, and an overall enjoyable book. Love the series, A wonderful read.

I just love these characters!

The characters are developed in such a way that you feel like you know them, you want to spend time with them. Can't wait to see what mischief they all get into next.

Outstanding

If you are looking at this review, it is undoubtedly because you have read or listened to the first five books of the series. If you have not read them, stop what you are doing and immediately purchase Just One Damned Thing After Another. I warn you that you have many hours of enjoyment ahead of you.

What Could Possibly Go Wrong lives up to the previous books in the series. Zara Ramm's narration continues to be the ideal complement to the satirical writing style of Jodi Taylor, bringing to life wonderful and irreverent characters. Max is a true Wise Ass that is hard not to love. If you are reading or listening to this book in a public place or a library, be warned that you will likely burst out laughing, and you may get some odd looks from the people near you.
