Publisher's Summary

Every town has at least one beloved if misunderstood eccentric, and Beanie Bradsher belongs to Mayhew Junction. Some - LouWanda Crump, for example - would call Beanie a spectacle, but Beanie just marches - and dresses - to the beat of a different drum.

Not much has changed over the years in this town. On any given morning, you'll find the same people at the same table at the same cafe, and none of them have changed one iota in the past 20 years. But now Beanie Bradsher has won the lottery and might be dating Sweet Lee Atwater's husband. And the hometown basketball star Vesuvius Jones just got a face full of red velvet cake at the trunk-or-treat.

The gossip has never been juicier, which might just be a good thing. Lord knows this town could use a good shaking up.

Fun listen

This is a wonderful, lighthearted adventure. I want more of Beanie in my life. The story flowed wearily and I was wrapped up in each characters journey.

Pure Fun!!

Greatly enjoyed! A silly romance full of the stuff that makes you feel good. No suspense, little intrigue, just fun entertainment! Laugh out loud real story line that addresses serious real life. Very well done!!

Loved it!

Light-hearted. Still addressed real issues, even if it is just the tip of the iceberg.

Not for me. Too soap opera like, not logical.

The plot seems based on a bunch of misunderstandings which drive the story. Without these crazy misunderstandings, the book would be done in a quarter of the time. It’s like one of those 90’s soap opera’s. The performers are good and do a great job.

Liked story but hated cliffhanger ending!

The story wanders along at a slow southern pace painting a detailed picture of what life is like in the small town of Mayhem. Told from 3rd party, each chapter focuses on the POV of a different town resident. The characters development is written so that each person comes alive, unique and easily identified throughout the story. The focus is on the relationships between adult couples, married and single whose daily lives become so tightly intertwined with each other it that it sets the gossips tounges wagging. The unbridled gossip leashed lays havoc to the well being of it's subjects. Just about the time the arc of the story crests and we are FINALLY going to find out what happens to these poor folks the story ends. The author then has the audacity to add an epilog where she attempts to sell us the next book in the series. Which by the way is not available on Audible. <shaking my head> Disappointing!!

The narration is good.
