Publisher's Summary

Life on a farm planet at the edge of the universe can be dangerous for a human woman alone. That's why I need a husband. Any husband.

Unfortunately, all the men I approach keep running off. So I hire a bounty hunter to kidnap me someone capable and strong, someone who will scare off the creeps who are trying to move in on my territory.

It'll be a marriage of convenience only.

I should have been a little more specific about who I wanted, though...because the intimidating and fierce praxiian male that the bounty hunter brings to me? The one with feline features, big arms, and an even bigger...uh, farm?

He's the problem I was hoping a new husband would scare off. What am I supposed to do now?

(Don't ask him, because all of his suggestions are completely and utterly filthy and have nothing to do with a marriage of convenience.)

Contains mature themes.

HORRIBLE

Straight garbage. I can't stand authors that make the whole premise of a romance novel based on the female MC being dumb as rocks while everyone else has at least half a brain cell. Is it lazy writing? or just a poor sense of character building? No, annoying AF is what it is and worth NOT spending 11 hours wasting my time on. When I first saw the description, I thought okay maybe this is going to be the paranormal romance I was looking for, but its just not. The only thing I've learned is that if you see Jillian Macie narrating anything, its an automatic red flag after listening to my 3rd one of her narrations.

Loved the book, but the Female Narrator ruined it

I read this book when Ruby Dixon first released it a chapter a day on her FB page. Loved it so much I bought the Kindle version, now bought the audio version but I am returning this title. The story was great, a little drawn out but still a good story. I LOVE Mason Lloyd and tried to get through this cause I'd listen to him read the dictionary, he is that good. Jillian Macie, not so much though. Her narration sounded whiny with little differentiation between characters. Often she sounded like a high school drama queen and her male voices are cringe worthy. I am returning this book because I just can't listen to the female voice any longer. Guess I'll learn to live with the Kindle version.

Eh..

It was a pretty good book witha few hot moments but so gosh dang slow. It felt like forever for anything to happen and not nearly as climatic as the description says. Just seemed a bit too ironed out and neat. Not a bad book by any means but not one i would repeat by any means

Hesitated

I hesitated to order this because even though it says it’s book one of the series, it’s actually book 3. Books one and two are not on audible. I’m the type that likes to start at the beginning but because I’m familiar with Ms. Dixon’s Dragon series, which I thoroughly enjoy, I went ahead and took the risk. Although there are some hints of a backstory, I enjoyed the book as a standalone story. I have two complaints, one, that there were some areas that dragged a little bit and two, the erotic scenes in my mind were a little too long. One scene was two chapters long. It’s a sad day when sex becomes boring. The narrators were perfect. I will continue with the series.

Past campy and all the way to dorky downer

This was my first book in the Risdaverse series and it may be my last. Three things fizzle the sizzle.
1) This was long. I feel like my popcorn alien romance should be 5-9 hours- anything longer drags
2) Mason Lloyd’s voicing for hunky aliens is hot; Jillian Macie’s is not. She’s great for the human gal,
but I’d have preferred Mr. Lloyd’s narration for all the nooky scenes.
3) Kim is a moron. She has neither book smarts nor street smarts and had multiples TSTL moments.
My favorite female was instead the side character of bounty hunting Bathia.

I enjoyed the first six books in Ruby Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarian series, the four-book Corsairs series, and The Bad Guy…all of which share some level of connection to the Risdaverse. But, compared to those other series, the ratio of camp, action, & nooky to slave trauma & slow burn was way off in this book.
I may still be open to trying another Risdaverse book, but only on sale.

Hilarious and a perfect weekend listen

If you’ve ever enjoyed anything by Ruby Dixon this is wonderful I love the world this is centered in and the fact it mentions a Drakoni warrior. I really want a story with a Drakoni gladiator now!

Boring smut is the worst

This is the first book I've read in this series and couldn't help but notice how sloppy it was compared to Ruby Dixon other works. The female narrator had a scratchy and whiny voice. I also skipped several.... several chapters and realized I didn't miss anything in the actual storyline.

Cute and different

I was skeptical about purchasing this audio book after reading some of the negative reviews, but I really liked it. It's a cute and funny story. I didn't think it was slow or dragged out. The story flowed nicely and both narrators did a great job. Hope you like it too.

I love the humour

Ruby is one of my favourite authors. I love the humour in all of Ruby’s books and this is no exception. Always leaves me grinning and ready for the next book. Having this on audio means I walk around with a grin on my face, laughing inappropriately while I am shopping or taking the dog for walk.
I am getting some strange looks but it is worth it 🤓🥴🤣

One of Ruby's best books

I love Ruby's work and the diversity and dimensions of her characters and storylines. She is a brilliant writer and romantic author. As a mother of 3 children her books that focus on the experiences of women with work and children are the most entertaining and emersion. These stories are real and the narrators are excellent and extremely talented. Ruby, Mason and Jillian are very talented in their storytelling and ability to bring fantasy into reality.
