Zachary Bronson has built an empire of wealth and power. Now he is seeking a wife to help secure his position in the ton...as well as warm his bed in private. But not just any woman will do for one of London's most notorious rakes. When he meets Lady Holly Taylor, he surrenders to the temptation to take her in his arms and kiss her. Yet he's pleasantly surprised to discover her fierce passions match his own.

Lady Holly Taylor is destined to spend her life playing by society's rules even when they go against her bolder instincts. But Zachary's kiss arouses her, and though his shocking offer doesn't include marriage, she is compelled to risk everything for the most forbidden passion.

missed the mark

i love landor and have been enjoying kleypas greatly lately. but this book… well, it missed the mark by a mile. i don’t need historical romance to be historically accurate, but it needs to feel believable, and this book simply didn’t. almost from the beginning it was just quite silly to imagine any of it actually happening.

i couldn’t finish reading. i was about to stop out of boredom, but then the casual homophobia displayed by the hero decided it for me. ironically, that part may be historically accurate and believable, but it was unnecessary to the story and a major turn off. it was also a turn off that he displayed such disrespect for a lady he had invited into his home, by allowing his nighttime activities to be known by all.

I love all of Lisa Kleypas books!

I loved both main characters and the slow burn she does so well. Rose was hilarious! I laughed so loud when she asked about Zack sleeping with two women at his party. The secondary romance with Liz and Jason was sweet. I wish the epilogue would have been a few years later so we could find out if they had any children and to see what that adorable Rose has been up too.

I will always read and re-read Lisa Kleypas books. She has the most unforgettable characters (Ravenels, Sebastian, Evie, Simon, Abigail, the list goes on and on). Lisa, you are amazing and I enjoy your creativity and sense of humor.

Great love story

I’ve love a good reformed rake story, Lisa Kleypas knows how to create that mad love imagery and Rosalyn Landor as always delivers. Some of the reviews said that it’s not realistic or believable but of course that’s why we love fiction🙂

The Characters are Infuriating.

I'll start by saying I love Lisa Kleypas. I have so many of her books, but this one was rough to get through. I kept waiting for the story to get better. However, the heroine was obtuse and the love interest was an ass. I don't see how their relationship was healthy in the least. It made me uncomfortable, the way he treated her and how he would manipulate and scheme. Holly wasn't really a well developed character; because of this I had a hard time identifying with her or rooting for her. If you are looking to read a Kleypas romance novel I suggest the Ravenel series or the Wallflower series (read wallflowers first as they are further back in time and are reintroduced in the Ravenel series.)

It was okay

I don’t like the way Zachary was portrayed. His character traits weren’t quite balanced. I almost didn’t want to like him. The constant praise of George didn’t help his cause either 🙄. Holly really got on my nerves! Every 30mn, George this, George that. I didn’t like then together at all. The story had potential though. I loved Landor’s narration.
