For over 300 years, I’ve waited for fate to deliver my soul mate; the person I’d love for the rest of my life; the one I was destined to protect, to treasure and to cherish. The one to complete me. I never expected to find him dancing like an angel in my nightclub. The moment my eyes gazed upon his beauty, my heart was gone. The most mesmerizing thing about him were his eyes; he had the biggest, roundest doe eyes I’d ever seen. They were an enchanting shade of blue; the exact color of the Mediterranean Sea. When I looked into those eyes, I was home.

Publisher's Summary
"Forgive me, Father, for I will sin."
Adam: Catholic priest. Celibate. Does not yield to temptation.
Emil: Sinner. Seducer. Snake. Hot as hell itself.
After a sheltered childhood ruled by religion, all Adam wants is to be a good priest and make his parents proud. But it’s hard to stay virtuous in a big city like Warsaw, and when he makes one slipup, his life spirals into ruin. He is sent to a tiny mountain village, where he hopes to live down his shame and work on restraint.
But staying celibate becomes far from easy when he meets Emil - a local man with long dark hair, a mysterious past, and as little morality as he has luck. Emil has no qualms about flirting with a priest. Worse still, he seems hell-bent on tasting forbidden fruit and unearthing the desires Adam has always kept hidden.
The odd village hides secrets far more sinister than Adam's insatiable lust for Emil. Old Slavic magic looms everywhere. Superstition mixes with reality. Someone is watching his every move. Someone follows him in the dark, lurking in the shadows of the ancient forest. Adam is plagued by disturbing events, and Emil could be his only salvation even if he is the devil himself.
Can a priest shepherd the black sheep to safety, or has he been the wolf all along?
Warning: This dark, paranormal m/m romance features scorching-hot, emotional, and explicit scenes. The story contains scenes of violence, offensive language, self-harm, and morally ambiguous characters.

Ominous. Slow Burn. Intimate
Where the Devil Says Good night is a very unconventional story . It's also provocative, creepy, darkish, intimate, emotional, slow burn, mystical , hot AF and utterly entertaining.
Set , in a small town ,in a valley, by the edge of a forest , deep in the Carpathian Mountains in Romania. It has an extraordinary and fascinating world building around Slavic superstition, myth, folklore, paganism, old deities, demons , magic and cults.
Where the Devil Says Goodnight kept me on edge and guessing the entire time. Began listening late at night ; so of course, was imaging I heard a noise , then floorboards creaking, followed by something breathing down my neck; get the picture? I freaked myself out. 😁😀😂 So yep , it's a spooky , intriguing, spellbinding and thoroughly enjoyable book.
Adam and Emil, the heroes , are great characters. They fought hard to be together. And I absolutely love their unique brand of HEA .
Wyatt Baker narration was on point. His performance matched the eerie , puzzling, candid atmosphere of the story.

Lacked worldbuilding to pull off its plot
Keep reading to see a recommendation on a series that did it better. This book was just disappointingly fine
I'm so back and fourth if I liked this book or not. I guess me thinking that really gives this a solid 2 stars. I was able to finish it but I didn't enjoy myself as much as I was hoping to.
I am a huge fan of this Author so I was a little let down that this didn't captivate me as much as I was hoping.
The romance was steamy, slow burn at first but when it finally picks up it definitely went all out and I loved it.
I am sorta sick of the trend though with a lot of romances by this author and other authors of a disturbance in the romance occurring on get a big fight over a misunderstanding happening right near the end. It's oh most getting to a point that i can nearly always rely on a misunderstanding fight happening at the last 3 hours of the book. It's like a guessing game of what it's going to be over, will it be overhearing something out of context and misunderstanding the meaning? Will it be misunderstanding the relationship? Will it be a misunderstood belief that someone is cheating/jealousy? Will it be 3rd uninvolved party leaking information without providing details that matter that cause a misunderstanding? Etc. Etc. Etc. I know its a fun plot device but like... =/ it feels same same.
Also the book took a really long time to throw the paranormal stuff at you in a fun and meaningful way. The paranormal stuff just feels like such a side plot where focus just never really can be adjusted enough on it to make it interesting. This book lacked any type of world building to be able to pull that off. When it does finally become something that really matters, it felt tacked on. More time establishing a world was definetly needed.
All that missed out time on world building was spent character building.
The characters felt alive and real, there was definitely a lot of attention to detail about the 2 main characters to get you to care about them and their relationship. The relationship was amazing see develop and absolutely sexy when the Erotic moments occurred.
With such great characters, it's a shame though that they had to be wasted on such a mediocre story and poor world building that didn't really immerse you in enough to love this book. This isn't a book I'd recommend, there's better stuff out there that do it better.
I recommend Kings of Hell MC as a good example of a series that spent the time on the world building to help support the paranormal story line.

Just amazing ~
With the combo KA Merikan + Wyatt Baker you know you will get an amazing book, narrated by one of my favorite voices. And this audiobook was no exception. Every voice was like I imagined it in my head while reading the book, and the devil's voice comes to life in an exquisite way, allowing yourself to get lost in the story.
The protagonists of this story, when we know them, are both trying to escape from something.
Adam from the temptations that become more difficult to ignore every day, that feeling of inadequacy that leads him to take refuge in the only thing, which according to him, can keep him away from committing a serious act against God; and it’s for this reason that since he couldn’t form a family of his own, with a wife and children, he decided to follow the path of the priesthood.
And Emil, who desperately tries to get away from the small village where he has lived for a lifetime; a village that, little by little, everyone he loves leaves. Who for a tragic death, like his family, or who to escape from the nothing that a country like Dybukowo can offer, and its inhabitants, with a mind too narrow and old-fashioned to accept that things are now changing in the world.
From the outset, the two seem linked by a mysterious bond, which attracts them to each other, severely testing the sacred oath made by Adam.
But when even the dark forces decide to intervene, how can Adam think, even for a moment, to be able to resist that invisible thread that slowly pulls Adam more and more into Emil's arms; after all, Adam is just a man.
And this is where the real troubles for our protagonists will begin, between their illicit love, the villagers with their secrets and pagan rituals that have their roots in the woods surrounding Dybukowo.
I loved these guys madly, both characters are very strong when needed, but sensitive and full of wounds that led them to suffer a lot in life, especially Emil, who for most of his life had to live with pain and loneliness.
But together there is nothing they cannot do, even a demon manages to be a little less scary, if they are together.
Obviously I don't want to do any kind of spoilers, I will only say that the grand finale was one of my favorites for various reasons, and when things start to get clearer you can no longer put the book down to find out how things will go.

Good Story Odd Narration
The story was quite original and unusual. The ending was actually a bit of a surprise. My only criticism is that the characters seemed to fall completely in love a bit too easily.
The narration was odd. The character voices were very good, but the third-person narrative consistently sounded like a news anchor reading world-shaking headlines.
Overall, I would still recommend this to anyone not triggered by human/monster sexual interaction. Medium-to-high heat.

Good Idea Bad Execution
I like spooky stories, so I have no qualms with the subject matter. This book felt like it needed a rewrite or some editing. It really didn't feel like the character Adam needed to be a priest. Why he became a priest or why it mattered to him didn't feel flushed out. He could have just been a guy who came from a religious family, and the story would have been the same. At certain points you REALLY needed to have a suspension of disbelief to get through this. Without going into spoilers the ending felt tacked and rushed on in some parts. If you're really bored or curious give it shot, but I don't recommend this as a first pick.

When Horror Is Romantic
Where the Devil Says Goodnight elegantly mixes romance with horror to create this addictive, ominous story that captured my attention immediately. Adam and Emil are so vastly different from each other; one is a priest and the other the grandson of a witch. But despite their differences, they are destined for each other. Set against a small Polish town backdrop and infused with Slavic culture and myths, this was one of the most unique and fascinating romances I’ve read this year. The audiobook was extremely well done with some amazing vocal performances that took me by surprise (in a very good way).

A dark paranormal romance!
This is book 1 in the Folk Lore Series and can be listened to as a standalone.
Adam is a Catholic Priest whp refuses to bend to the whims of temptation
Emil is a Sinner pure and simple.
He will do all that it takes to make Adam his. He will taste the Forbidden fruit no matter what.
Will Adam be resolute in his beliefs or will the sinner lead him to temptation.
I am in love with the world building of this book.
The characters are real and well fleshed out and the writing is gripping.
If you like a dark, hot paranormal romance with medium angst and an amazing world building I would absolutely recommend this to you.
Wyatt Baker has performed a commendable audio delivery in this one.

Adam and Emil
Adam is conceived on a night of sin and born 9 months later with a tail. He grows up to be a priest but his sinful thoughts and desires will have him sent back to the place of his conception. There he meets Emil. A sinner who is left to his own by the towns people and wears a cloth of misfortune around him in the form of black crows. But the beautiful man has a lure Adam cannot resist. What they don't know is that they both play a part in an old folklore that needs to be corrected. It's an amazing story which should not be a surprise since written by KA Merikan. Wyatt Baker does a fantastic job in narrating with some added features at the end of the story which makes it come so alive.

Dark and Demonic but good listen
This book is not my typical listen but it was good. The angst and push/pull was very present between Adam and Emil. The demonic, folklore, magic and cult run thru the whole book but the devil at the end was really scary. The end of book was a great surprise.
I liked Wyatt Baker's narration. He did a great job with distinguishing between the characters.
If your into dark, paranormal books then I HIGHLY recommend this book.

Possession and folk devils, magic and love!
This was an interesting tale featuring some elements of Eastern European Folklore with two guys at the heart of a dark scheme to bring prosperity to a distant village.
Wyatt Baker does an amazing job of bringing the characters to life and telling the story with the alternating points of view in such a way that I was enchanted right from the very beginning.
Highly recommended for lovers of Folklore with darker leanings and MM romance with a HEA.

Totally out of my wheelhouse, in a good way
I really liked this story and i will put a review of the book in GR As for listening to the book, i loved the pace and voice of Wyatt Baker and I enjoyed listening to him. I hadn't read the book first, so i got it and kind of read together. I think this is a story i just needed to read too. It was a dark story, but I didn't find it as disturbing as others from KA Merikan. I am a complete wuss and everything scares me. But I didn’t feel scared. I wasn’t offended and I think I missed important themes to others that I just didn’t feel affected me. I know I will be rereading and listening to this story and I really hope to ask the authors a few questions. I would recommend this read.

Different and amazing!
This was a very different read. I really like the author's style, almost 100% of their books are my liking and this one is no different! The story is gritty and raw. I couldn't stop listening until I reach the very end. It made me uncomfortable at the end, but it's just fiction and didn't alter my believes. One thing though, the part were Adam was possessed and the demon use his body to have unconsencual s*x, was not cool. Like at all.
Wyatt Baker is one of my favorite narrators, his voice is sexy, gravely and his voice acting is terrific. He can make difference voices, all the right pauses and a good pace.

So intense...
In spite of being a fan of KA Merikan therefore being someone used to their books, the topic on this one was difficult for me to read. As always the writing style, plot and character development is outstanding but the intensity of the situations, all the dark aspects of the storyline and all the complexity of the good/evil intrigue and interactions between the MCs were so disturbing especially with the exceptional work of Mr Baker managing the voice acting. I recommend discretion and review the potential triggers before reading it, because the book Is wonderful but it has some parts that could be difficult.
