I miss JF Harding

I was extremely disappointed that the narrator isn't JF Harding. His narration of Johnny in the other books was whoa hot damn. I have to admit that I skipped quite a bit of the book due to lackluster bland narration. I'm going to move on to the next and mourn an opportunity missed with this one.

Another great book in this series

It took a while for me to get around to listening to this book in the series. I’m glad I waited because after some of the reviews related to the narrator, distance from the other books meant I had no problem whatsoever with the narrator. I thought he was quite good and thought he did all voices well. Maybe if I had listened to him immediately after some of the other books I would’ve thought differently. But I thought he was great. The story was excellent as has been the case for the other books in this series.

Can't get into stupid characters

I couldn't finish the book. I got to Chapter 5 and had to stop. 1) A foreign man approaches her at the casino and insists she be with him, but she refuses. 2) She's set up at work (how a foreigner gets the info to break into the system, disable the cameras, and make it look like she's taking the money from the casino is amazing in that short of time) and is arrested for theft. 3) She discovers the foreigner pays her bail. 4) She goes home by herself after all that info and then is abducted. Duh. 5) Her rescuer goes solo to get her when he belongs to special ops security agency. Nope. I couldn't get into the story. Not to mention that he's got a fear of commitment, suddenly, he's so into her that he has to go across the world to go get her. I couldn't listen any longer after that. More frustrating than intriguing.

Intense

Wow. Ms Gerard is an intense writer! I just discovered her books a couple weeks ago… I’m not usually one for blood and gore but she wove emotions- love, fear, anticipation etc -all into a unique and … well, intense story. Very creative and even thought provoking… well done

Narration

I agree with others that I liked JF Harding’s performance so much better. His range of voices made the characters come alive. And although Douglas Berger didn’t do a bad job, it just didn’t seem like the same characters that JF had created. It was more like Douglas was just reading the book with little inflection.

Narrator did a good job

Sure, a new narrator. However, Douglas Berger did an excellent job narrating this story and bringing the characters to life. I honestly didn’t miss JF Harding.

Intense - heartbreaking - thoughtful

Intense story about human trafficking and a brave woman who holds her own but is still vulnerable and real. I really liked the two main characters who give off a tough exterior to avoid being hurt. Thoughtful dialogues and a great narration overlay a suspenseful story. 5 stars all around!

oh sweet Johnny

I have loved Johnny throughout this series. The southern charmer who deserves his shot at lasting love. Crystal was not my favorite of the women so far, but she grew on me more toward the end. Narration was great!

Crystal is fierce and independent

I love the heroine in this book, Crystal is fierce, loyal and independent. she doesn't sit back and wait to be rescued, even when the odds are stacked against her she doesn't give up. I great character. The BOI she's been seeing isn't about to let anything happen to her though, an sets about his own rescue mission. there's loads of peril, action and feeling mixed in with every chapter, the author clearly did her homework when it comes to the tactical and weaponry knowledge. Douglas Berger did a great job with the narration.

just loving Cindy Gerards no nonsense Black Ops

I veered away from listening to this in place of kris Michaels and devoured her guardian / defender series but have decided to come back to Cindy as I really enjoy all her characters that she has written. I haven't read all of The Bodyguard series yet but I'm thinking it won't matter too much if i jump ahead to Black Ops as I will grow accustomed to the names and where they are now once I go back to it.
Cindy does a great job of getting all the intricate Black Ops materials together for example the different types of weapons and the way that the men have to go about setting things up and it is really quite suspenseful.
I really enjoy the romance in between it all and I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of the guys go down to their strong women. I do like JF Harding as a narrator however I do believe Douglas did a very good job with this narration as well so the next one I believe is Shannon Gunn we'll see how he goes.
it was interesting to have this take place in the Indonesia and not like most Ops centered in the Middle East. Indonesia does seem to be a place where it can become the hub for all the undercover type of transaction that can take place in a fictional book. using the Indonesian language here in there was the clever idea and gave it some Credence.
tink with sassy and I think will make a good addition to b o i looking forward to the next one
