Story
When a stranger named Marsuvees Black appears in Paradise, he brings with him a message of hope and love. Or is it death and hate? Perhaps neither - perhaps both. He seems to know too much about the town's many unspoken secrets, and he himself holds the greatest secret of them all. As black clouds and sandstorms envelop the town, it becomes almost impossible to get in or out. It quicky becomes apparent that Paradise is being isolated for a reason. But why?

Sally Beth Roe, a young loner, a burnout, a kind of "leftover hippie," finds herself caught in the middle of these bizarre events, fleeing for her life while trying to recall her dark past. Across a vast panorama of heart-stopping action, Sally Roe's journey is a penetrating portrayal of our times, a reflection of our wanderings, and a vivid reminder of the redemptive power of the Cross. The intensity of this best-selling novel comes alive when read by author Frank Peretti.

Captivating
I really enjoyed all three books, Black, Red and White. The author did a great job with suspense and clever solutions. I loved the creativity of the author, and the way this series makes you think. There are many aspects of the book that can be associated with different aspects of life. I loved this book and I would highly recommend it.

Fantastic Series
The series is a must 'read'. Black, Red, and White takes the reader on two journeys. The reading is fantastic. The stories move quickly from one reality to another, or was it all just a dream?
This series is a must have for fiction readers, regardless of religious background. Well done.

Great series, one weakness
The Black Red White series was excellent with a gripping narrative style. That said, the final book was probably the weakest of the three. The romance scenes are very heavy handed and don't really ring true. Also some pivotal scenes were repeated word for word from an earlier scene. This may have been a deliberate text device used to show the veracity of the experience but it didn't work. The narrator was good but he seemed to change the pronunciation of some names. One character had three different names (Tilo, Teelah and Taylor). I am not sure if this was deliberate on the part of the author or a mistake on the part of the narrator. However these were minor aberrations in a wonderful adventure that made me want to dream.

more great escape
Ted Dekker has written a wonderful trilogy in these books. I started out feeling his writing was a little hokey, then found myself reeled in completely. After the first installment I couldn't help myself-- I downloaded the next two and swallowed them whole. A wonderful allegory and escape at the same time.

He should have stopped at Two
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would, but I would also let them know that compared to the first two books, this one is disappointing. I hated the ending.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Good question, I never know just what I will be in the mood for when shopping for an Audible book, I like a little bit of everything.
What about Rob Lamont’s performance did you like?
He did great with bringing the Characters to life.
Do you think White needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
It does need a follow up book, if for no other reason than to make this book into yet another dream sequence. They should not have let any of the other characters travel, sorry for the spoiler, but I had to say it.
Any additional comments?
I was harsh on this book, but it really isn't horrible, I just wanted it to end differently than what it did.

Great book, weird recording
The content was good. The voice reading it was pretty decent as well, but the recording studio almost ruined the book for me. They insert these cheesy interludes that almost deminish the content of the book.

Love hate relationship
Love: The original storyline. Absolutely loved the story itself and I wish I had the time to actually read but alas I do not and must rely on audio books during my hour and a half commute.
Hate: I spent much of the time being angry that I had to hear the story through this reader. I can normally learn to deal with a reader's idiosyncrasies but even after listening to the entire series I still found myself counting down the minutes to being done with this man's narration. Each time he sucked in breath and licked his lips I would twinge - this alone is hard to ignore. Add to it influxes of pitch at the wrong times and mispronounced words. I will never ever listen to another book read by him.
Also, another small annoyance was the music between chapters. Many times the music would blast my ears at triple the volume of his voice.
In the end I'm happy I got the chance to hear this series but the narration made it feel a bit like punishment.

Read them in Order!
Having read Black, Red then White, I strongly recommend that people read them in that order. I also agree with other reviewers that White is the worst of the three. I would give the series as a whole only an average rating, meaning I would not read it again, but found it interesting.
Black would get 4 stars as it got me interested in continuing. Red would be more like 3.5, as it kept me going, and I finished White (2 stars) just to be done with the story.
As to "Christian" overtones, etc., yes, there are analogies...including the less flattering ones of intolerance, multiple interpretations of cryptic passages, and control over the masses by those that are the spiritual leaders. I would say there are religious overtones along the lines of the classic plot of good versus evil, but I did not see this as a "Christian" series.
