Warner spent his days like almost anyone else. He got up, went to work, answered phone calls in a call center, went home, spent time with his daughter, and went to sleep. Only to repeat the pattern over and over and over. Life was as mundane as anyone could ever fear it to be. Today was the day that all that would change. On this day, his daughter Maya would be nearly fatally injured, plunging Warner into a world of paranormal creatures, monsters, and magic he’d never known existed. The only consolation is that he discovers he’s not quite human, either.

Publisher's Summary
Horror meets humorous urban fantasy in the sixth book in the White Trash Zombie series.
Winner of the 2012 Best Urban Fantasy Protagonist by the RT Awards.
Angel Crawford has finally pulled herself together (literally!) after her disastrous dismemberment on Mardi Gras. She's putting the pieces of her life back in order and is ready to tackle whatever the future holds.
Too bad the future is a nasty bitch. There's a new kind of zombie in town: mindless shamblers, infectious and ravenous.
With the threat of a full-blown shambler pandemic looming, and a loved one stricken, Angel and the "real" zombies scramble to find a cure. Yet when Angel uncovers the true reason the plague is spreading so quickly, she adds "no-holds-barred revenge" to her to-do list. Angel is busting her ass dealing with shambling hordes, zombie gators, government jerks, and way too many mosquitos, but this white trash chick ain't giving up.
Good thing, since the fate of the world is resting on her undead shoulders.

WOW!!! just wow!!!
First, I would say this was the best book of the series!!! I laughed out loud so many times people probably thought I was nuts.
Seriously enjoyable.
The narrator of course did an amazing job like normal, I love her Angelkins voice lol.
The story just kept me hooked, couldn't stop listening.
This felt like the end, I truly hope it isn't because these characters are some of my favorites. Angel just keeps improving and growing, her father, Nick, everyone of them keeps growing, learning.
Amazing job Diana Rowland, thank you so much for sharing these truly lovely characters with us. Allison McLemore, your voice acting is superb!!! Thank you both so much.

Gators, Outbreaks, and Angel on the Case!
Finally, yes finally, I had the opportunity to see what everyone was loving on. A scrappy Louisiana local girl turned zombie and her adventures told by a well-matched narrator certainly lived up to its rep. This was my kind of zombie story.
White Trash Zombie Unchained is book six in the White Trash Zombie urban fantasy series. I read it out of order and did alright, but I can most definitely see that these books build on each other and are best read/listened to in order.
The story opens with the heroine, Angel Crawford, just recovered from her last (un)deadly adventure just in time for another one. A new zombie strain has arrived affecting even the gators in the swamp and this brings an old nemesis back making a strange bedfellows situation. The new strain's epidemic must be stopped and the stakes are high to find a cure. So much isn't adding up and Angel and the other zombies have to figure it all out fast.
I took to Angel right from the beginning. She has a wry, homey, country girl humor. She's an every-gal sort of heroine trying to live down her past mistakes and move on. And, she is a scrappy one. I enjoyed seeing her stand up to the big shots when she felt she was right and she got in a few jabs when people got condescending toward her.
Side characters are numerous as its six books into the series now. I enjoyed all the camaraderie among the zombies and Angel's various and colorful circle of acquaintance and friends. It cracked me up that she works in the coroner's office as a zombie where bodies with fresh brains are a plenty.
I worried that I'd get squeamish since this is a zombie story, but it wasn't horrid at all. It was fun and exciting. There's a dire situation and mystery to solve and inter-personal relationships to enjoy. Its no more gruesome than the average urban fantasy. Zombie gators! What a hoot!
Allison McLemore narrated and whoa girl was she a fab fit. She nailed the southern, the genders, and the tempo of this story so well. I was riveted and well-settled with her narration from beginning to the end. In just one book, she established herself as the voices of the White Trash Zombie series.
All in all, a fantastic outing that will not be my last with the series. Like a good reader girl, I'll be catching up the backlist and progressing forward as a new fan. Urban Fantasy lovers, this ones a winner!

Awesome Series
I love this series, I was so excited when this one was released. The story evolves so impressively, I hated putting it down.
I did notice the audio was off a bit. Sometimes her voice would change sounding like she had a cold or something and then return to normal after a few sentences, which made me think those were edited portions. Also the voice she does for Pierce makes him sound like his lips sewn together and he's on some sort of heavy narcotic. However, all other parts of the performance were great. I could listen to her all day. Angel Crawford for President 2020.

I can not say enough about this series! its a must read for a good Mystery, Zombie book. Both genres I think would be pleased! this book was so good, and the rest of the series is well!

Another great entry in the series
Angel Crawford has become one of my favorite heroines in literature. This entry is a creative and satisfying addition to the White Trash Zombie universe, and allows Angel to be Angel, yet grow as well. All your favorite side characters make an appearance, and serve a purpose. Allison McLemore's performance is wonderful, as always. I hope that Diana Rowland never runs out of inspiration for this wonderful series!
