Story
In The Fiat Standard, world-renowned economist Saifedean Ammous applies his unique analytical lens to the fiat monetary system, explaining it as a feat of engineering and technology just as he did for bitcoin in his global best seller The Bitcoin Standard. This time, Ammous delves into the world's earlier shift from the gold standard to today's system of government-backed fiat money—outlining the fiat standard's purposes and failures; deriving the wider economic, political, and social implications of its use; and examining how bitcoin will affect it over time.

Story
Bitcoin has taken the world by storm once again when it crossed $20,000 per BTC in December of last year. Immediately, as it happened in 2017, a lot of people started trying to improvise themselves as professional investors. While some of them have made decent returns in the past few months, there is no doubt they are going to give them back to the market once prices stop going parabolic.

Story
Money is a fact of everyday life. We earn it, spend it and save it. We’re tempted to worship it and to trust it to provide for our needs. While much has been written about the power, danger, and stewardship of money, little has been written about what money actually is and whether or not money itself is moral. That information gap has been exploited to enrich a privileged few, enslave millions, and reap confusion and division throughout the world. How did this happen and what can we do about it?

Story
In this fascinating deep dive into the evolution of monetary systems around the globe, Nik Bhatia takes us into the origins of how money has evolved to function in a “layered” manner. Using gold as an example of this term, he traces the layers of this ancient currency from raw mined material, to gold coins, and finally to bank-issued gold certificates. In a groundbreaking manner, Bhatia offers a similar paradigm for the evolution of digital currencies.

Story
When a pseudonymous programmer introduced “a new electronic cash system that’s fully peer-to-peer, with no trusted third party” to a small Online mailing list in 2008, very few paid attention. Ten years later, and against all odds, this upstart autonomous decentralized software offers an unstoppable and globally-accessible hard money alternative to modern central banks. The Bitcoin Standard analyzes the historical context to the rise of Bitcoin, the economic properties that have allowed it to grow quickly, and its likely economic, political, and social implications.

We live in an extraordinary time. Technological advances are happening at a rate faster than our ability to understand them, and in a world that moves faster than we can imagine, we cannot afford to stand still. These advances bring efficiency and abundance - and they are profoundly deflationary. Our economic systems were built for a pre-technology era when labor and capital were inextricably linked - an era that counted on growth and inflation and an era where we made money from inefficiency.

This book covers bitcoin’s blocksize war, which was waged from August 2015 to November 2017. On the surface, the battle was about the amount of data allowed in each bitcoin block, however it exposed much deeper issues, such as who controls bitcoin’s protocol rules. It is not possible to cover every twist and turn in the labyrinthine conflict or all the arguments, but I have provided a chronology of the most significant events. This book explores some of the major characters in the conflict and includes coverage, from both the front lines and behind the scenes.

Publisher's Summary
Some people still view Bitcoin as a startup. But despite being declared dead many times by the mainstream media, Bitcoin grows stronger every year. What’s going on?
It’s not too late to learn about Bitcoin and invest! Bitcoin’s value has grown exponentially over multiple boom and bust cycles spanning a decade. Bitcoin is an internet-native phenomenon like Alibaba, Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google, Netflix, Microsoft, and Tencent.
It, therefore, benefits from the “network effect” which makes it dramatically more valuable as the network grows. But its potential value is much larger than the giant internet companies we know so well. If Bitcoin reaches that potential, its value could rise by 50 times its current price in the coming decade.
This book will help you understand the role of money in our society, the current state of debt in our economy, and how Bitcoin provides a better solution.

Balanced content, A+ writing and well researched
i have listened to over 110+ audiobooks and this is the best book on Bitcoin for my money! The book is very interesting and is a great primer to bring you from knowing nothing to being intermediate. I had stumbled into Bitcoin just from being an early adopter but picked up this book to dive into actually understanding it more as a technology and as a possible investment. If you are merely interested in Bitcoin just for conversational knowledge or are really considering taking this on as a significant investment you should read this book! The author does a great job of balancing the important history and context of money along with the future and needs that bitcoin fills. This is not a sales/"scammy" over-hyped book like most other bitcoin books. The author has real credentials CFA/CFP and work experience on wall street and in financial planning not like many of the books written in this space. I also prefer books that are read by the author so that was a plus. I really enjoyed this book and shared with all my friends and family so they can see what is coming and decide for themselves what to do.
