Publisher's Summary

On July 31, 2020, sixth pick in the 2017 NBA draft Jonathan Isaac of the Orlando Magic was the lone NBA player to stand for the national anthem amid a league-wide demonstration of kneeling in solidarity against racial injustice. In Why I Stand, Jonathan pulls back the curtain and shares his story of how, through a series of divine connections and a willingness to follow Christ, his fear and insecurity-driven life transformed into one of confidence and purpose.

Buy this book!!!

This is such a great book! It’s not political at all. It’s all about finding salvation and having a strong identity in Christ! The way God has shown up and worked in Jonathons life is amazing! I loved the honesty and detail in the authors writing. I’m buying this book for my nephews to read next. This would be a great book for a boys bible study or small group to comb through.

Great understanding of Christian growth

I don’t follow basketball so I had no idea who this young man was. It really didn’t matter to the story that he told about his life and how his relationship with God grew from knowing of God to really knowing God. God can change lives but it doesn’t happen all at once. However, it is important for us all to follow Jonathan Isaacs stand for what is right if you are a Christian. It is hard when we live in a world that is so antithetical against Christianity. Many see Christianity as a religion. Christianity is not about a religion. To be a Christian is about a relationship with God and growing with Him as we become Christ followers.

A story that connects with all of us.

Sure, we didn’t grow up to playin the NBA but so much of Jonathan’s story is relatable to our lives. I admire his courage, and most importantly his call to action which started when he recognized the holy spirit. I look forward to hearing the rest of the story as his life story continues. May God bless your life through others. As Jonathan pays it forward.

EXCELLENT READ

Jonathon Isaac tells his story in his own words. A story worth telling because it's like so many of our stories.

Thank you for the reminder

This was a great reminder that Yahweh will never forsake us. I worry about my children joining the NHL, NFL, or NBA. I know now that Yahweh is in charge and I have nothing to be anxious for.

A great book of how Jesus works in one’s life.

Could not stop listening. A story of how learning that we as humans can do all things with Christ by believing in him. How a personal relationship with our Lord can get us through all the highs and all the lows of life. God’s always got your back.

Hope for humanity

I have listened to around thirty audible books and this has renewed my faith and hope for mankind. It is definitely an inspiration when young people growing up in todays society have the courage to stand for something worth standing for. With the belief in God at an all time low, people like Johnathan sharing his story create the possibility of changing that statistic.
Many of societies problems today are explained in his story and how he was able to work through them instead of becoming another statistic.
With his help and guidance from Doc and the combined efforts of those willing to take a stand for what’s right there is hope.
Thank you Johnathan and Doc for making this something that can create a better world.

Beautiful

Loved the book. Jonathan mentions several famous Christian apologetics. His story is a great complement to those people he mentions.

Brilliant listen

To hear how and why Judah stood for truth when it was so much easier to kneel was edifying. A man of character, courage and an example to us all. Hallelujah! 🙏

I really loved this audio book and finished it over three days while listening to it with my fiancé. I love his honesty. Now, I'm sad it's over.

The Man who stands!

Loved it! Short but very sweet! Highlights for me was hearing Jonathan Isaac singing gospel music. That's another hidden talent of his!
