Story
The tale of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and the fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker has become modern myth, an epic tragedy of the corruption of a young man in love into darkness, the rise of evil, and the power of good triumphing in the end. But it didn't start out that way. In this thorough account of one of cinema's most lasting works, Michael Kaminski presents the true history of how Star Wars was written, from its beginnings as a science fiction fairy tale to its development over three decades into the epic we now know, chronicling the methods, techniques, thought processes, and struggles of its creator.

Story
When Star Wars burst on to the big screen in 1977, an unfailingly polite golden droid called C-3PO captured imaginations around the globe. But C-3PO wasn’t an amazing display of animatronics with a unique and unforgettable voice-over. Inside the metal costume was an actor named Anthony Daniels. In this deeply personal memoir, Anthony Daniels recounts his experiences of the epic cinematic adventure that has influenced pop culture for more than 40 years. For the very first time, he candidly describes his most intimate memories as the only actor to appear in every Star Wars film.

Regarded as a masterpiece today, 2001: A Space Odyssey received mixed reviews. Despite the success of Dr. Strangelove, director Stanley Kubrick wasn't yet recognized as a great filmmaker, and 2001 was radically innovative, with little dialogue and no strong central character. Author Michael Benson explains how 2001 was made, telling the story primarily through the two people most responsible for the film, Kubrick and science fiction legend Arthur C. Clarke. Benson interviewed Clarke many times, and has also spoken at length with Kubrick's widow, Christiane.

NASA's history is a familiar story, culminating with the agency successfully landing men on the moon in 1969. But NASA's prehistory is a rarely told tale, one that is largely absent from the popular space-age literature but that gives the context behind the incredible lunar program. America's space agency wasn't created in a vacuum; it was assembled from preexisting parts, drawing together some of the best minds the non-Soviet world had to offer.

D-Day, June 6, 1944, and the 76 days of bitter fighting in Normandy that followed the Allied landing, have become the defining episode of World War II in the west - the object of books, films, television series, and documentaries. Yet as familiar as it is, as James Holland makes clear in his definitive history, many parts of the OVERLORD campaign, as it was known, are still shrouded in myth and assumed knowledge.

Nearly everyone swears - whether it's over a few too many drinks, in reaction to a stubbed toe, or in flagrante delicto. And yet we sit idly by as words are banned from television and censored in books. We insist that people excise profanity from their vocabularies, and we punish children for yelling the very same dirty words that we'll mutter in relief seconds after they fall asleep. Swearing, it seems, is an intimate part of us that we have decided to selectively deny.

World renowned scientist Carl Sagan and acclaimed author Ann Druyan have written a Roots for the human species, a lucid and riveting account of how humans got to be the way we are. It shows with humor and drama that many of our key traits - self-awareness, technology, family ties, submission to authority, hatred for those a little different from ourselves, reason, and ethics - are rooted in the deep past, and illuminated by our kinship with other animals.

Required reading or listening for every Star Wars Fan
I’m familiar with Ken Napzok’s love for Star Wars from his many appearances on a variety of podcast and YouTube shows. Never one to shy away from a conversation or offering a opinion about the greatest story of our times, Star Wars. Star Wars is more then a story, it our current mythology. It has created our childhood fantasies and grew with us as we became older. Allowing us to pass it on to our children. In the pages of Why We Love Star Wars, we are all of one mind. Ken Napzok, takes us through a galaxy of the greatest moments of Star Wars. From the epic films to the animated series, novels and comic books, these are short recaps of moments are written from a point a view of a person that enjoys and loves the saga that has raised several generations. This book is written with a innocence that is refreshing, its non critical... it’s the joy of a fandom. It’s amazing how easy going the words are put together to capture the feeling that actually makes you want to rewatch, reread and put on a John Williams composition. The details are clear and there is no forced opinions giving. Ken Napzok does an excellent job off of narrating his book, it so such a personal touch especially if one is familiar with Napzok from other forms of media. I will most definitely reread and listen to Why We Love Star Wars again and again. This should be required reading for every Star Wars fan. I will highly recommend this perfect collection of story about the greatest moments of Star Wars. Great writing Mr. Napzok, May the Force be with you.

I'm a fan of Ken from Collider (Mpvie Talk, Jedi Council) and The Movie Trivia Schmoedown originally, but this put his love of Star Wars in a whole new light for me. It also now has me reminiscing on all of the scenes mentioned and wanting to go immediately rewatch them and looking at them in a new light sometimes. Great walk through great SW moments
To be fair, I’m a big fan of Ken Napzok anyway. He has one of the best understandings of the franchise, not just in a “I can name every alien in the cantina.” type of way (although I’m pretty sure he can) but he really understands what the stories and more importantly, he can break down these moments for us in a way that reminds us why we fell in love with the stories in the first place.

Reignited my love for Star Wars. And for life
I was caught up in the cynicism of the Star Wars fan base with respect to the prequels and sequels.
But then I heard this audible book and realized that you can be a passionate critical fan with demanding standards.
Or a passionate fan with empathy and compassion for the creators and actors and writers. You can be disappointed with certain outcomes, and yet appreciate the effort and intention of the people involved in making it happen.
And you can do that with every aspect of life.
This book is not just about Star Wars.
It's about what it means to be a Jedi.
Which at some level is about understanding what it means to be human.

Ken reminds us why we really love this epic saga
Ken Napzok is a true fan of Star Wars. He's a geek, knows all the names and planets in SW Universe and has read and seen every book, comic and magazine, seen every film and show and yet he knows what it really means to love the franchise. He knows that we don't have to love everything about the Star Wars to love Star Wars. He let's us know that its OK to not like something in the franchise, because that's the beauty of Star Wars.
It's also OK to still feel little a child again and get excited over space battles, lightsaber duels or have a tear when when one of you favourite characters is killed.
Thanks Ken, you have made me realise why I truly love this epic saga, in fact because of you, I love it even more.
May the Force be with you

Love, galactic style
A heartfelt and honest listical by one of my favourite pop culture pundits. Easy and entertaining in nice, consumable chapters.
