Publisher's Summary

After his mother dies, rock star Ace White - lead singer of the red-hot band Wicked White - is done with the celebrity game. The phony people, the meaningless one-night stands: he doesn't want any of it anymore. Quitting in the middle of a sold-out tour, Ace sets out to find some place - any place - where he can be alone.

Aspiring singer Iris Easton's life has never been easy. First, her mother walked out on her when she was a kid. Now she's buried in debt, weeks after losing her beloved grandmother. When a mysterious and sexy new guy moves in next door, Iris can't help but be drawn to his soulful gaze. She can tell there's something from his past haunting him - something he's not telling her.

Just as Ace starts falling for Iris, the media go on a worldwide hunt to find the missing rocker. Will true love conquer all, or will the truth be the very thing that tears the couple apart?

A BEAUTIFUL LOVE STORY.... UNTIL THINGS WENT WRONG

The handsome lead Singer Ace White has had enough of the bad vibes coming from the other band members of Wicked White the manufactured Band he fronts and, together with the dictates and demands that his Manager and Record Label put on him, he's on the edge. When he's forced to choose them or his dying Mother there's no contest.... he flips the Band a finger and disappears. Needing to escape everything Ace rents a run down trailer that's owned by Iris who is getting over her own loss. They are mutually attracted but he's broken and he can't afford to be recognised or start a relationship that'll bring the paparazzi crashing in on him or Iris. So he tries to stay away but he didn't bargain on Iris' determination to get to know her broody, moody and mysterious sexy neighbor and eventually his head is overruled by what his heart wants.

Iris and Ace's relationship was sweet, tender, romantic and they share secrets, hopes and dreams because Iris dreams of Broadway so Ace helps her with her technique and there's some touching sex scenes. But suddenly something terrible happens (sorry no spoilers) which shifts their story into one of angst, tension, drama, bloody and heartbreaking consequences that will cost them the loss of their dreams...... and each other.

Told from both POV's but the narration is what cost this listen the loss of a star because Eric Dove's voice is adult but the female narrator who did the main female voices sounded way too young for the part and it would have been far better narrated by the female narrator who did the voice of the Reporter as she sounded older. This gave the listen a YA/NA feel.

Worth a credit? Yes, a very enjoyable listen which does end on a happy scene but, as there is book 2 Wicked Reunion waiting in the wings, there love story isn't over yet.... and I can't wait but I hope they choose another female narrator.

The back story... Tbe h spent 12 years in the foster system but ended up with a great foster mom towards the end. She inspired him to go to college and to stay up with his music. He gets signed but the contract stifles him and paired him with awful band members. When he gets a call from the police telling him that his foster mom is unresponsive and in the hospital, he flips off his band in front of a packed auditorium and heads home.

Once he gets there, he realizes that he is very unhappy and decides to run away to get a break. He changes up his look and moves into a trailer park to live a quiet life for a while... then he meets the h.

The h left New York after her grandmother died and left her the trailer park. She had been in New York trying to make it to Broadway but wasn't having any luck. She met the H and was instantly infatuated with him.

Romance or Gist: It starts to build halfway through the story when the H realizes that he cannot hide his feelings towards the h.

The drama explosion... The press finds him and then his brain shuts off.
Did it feel Real, OK or contrived? Ok
Was it OTT? Way over!
Separation involved? Yup
Was it resolved properly or rushed? Rushed as in the last three minutes of the story.

Final Notes... This story could have been a solid 4 Stars for me but the idiotic behavior of the H, especially through his silence, drove me crazy. Had it not dragged on for weeks, I probably would have liked it better. The fact that the h (who also made a stupid decision to lie to the H and push him away) took him back after a few minutes seemed insane. I worry about the longevity of their relationship.

A few other things that I did not like revolved around 2 characters who were rewarded for bad behavior.

1. The lady who worked for the attorney should have been turned in, fired and sued for breaching confidentiality! She was essentially given a pass.

2. While at the attorney's office, she should have had the wherewithal to ask him to review her options regarding the tax lien as there are plenty.

3. She kers the piece of crap neighbor get away with stealing 12k from her (which is partly why he got his a$$ kicked) and then the piece of crap was able to get a payoff from the record company... That cost the story a full star from me.

Was a ruff start

At first I kinda hated it, I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to listen to the whole thing… but once I got about half way though I started to enjoy the characters and didn’t dislike the narrators as much. I am looking forward to the second book.

Missed the mark for me

The story had potential but it wasn’t enough to make me really care about the characters. It was instant romance that I didn’t really feel. I wasn’t sold. The story was too sappy for me. I didn’t care about their relationship by the end of it. The book felt like it should’ve ended long before it did. Then all the time taken to give insight to how they were both feeling the ending was anticlimactic. The missed connection wasn’t needed and the book could’ve ended there.

Outside drama distracts

The story was alright just alright. There was an attempt to start the story off in a was that would grab your attention by having you questioning how did the character end up in that situation. Unfortunately, this question was never answered indetal. Initially the characters had no substance and were rather boring. Later attempts to add details and passion was too late. I wasn't interested in either character, found them both to be rather whinning. The ending had both characters having their professionals dreams come true. The author put much more substance in that part of the story than their reconciliation.

I don't know why

I don't know why I'm liking this book, it's most things I stick my nose up at, but I enjoyed the plot twists.

Disappointed

I don't normally write reviews however I just have to say I was really disappointed in the male lead.

Especially in the last couple of chapters he was a real coward and I just don't find that sexy.

The "separation angst" was to drawn out and Ace acted like a child not a rock star with a backbone I just lost all respect for him.
