Publisher's Summary

From the internationally best-selling author of The Simple Wild comes the continuation of a woman's journey to Alaska and a life she never imagined for herself.

Calla Fletcher returns to Toronto a different person, struggling to find direction and still very much in love with the rugged bush pilot she left behind. When Jonah arrives on her doorstep with a proposition she can't dismiss, she takes the leap and rushes back to Alaska to begin their exciting future together.

But Calla soon learns that even the best intentions can lead to broken promises, and that compromise comes with a hefty price - a log cabin in rural Alaska that feels as isolating as the western tundra.

With Jonah gone more than he's home, one neighbor who insists on transforming her into a true Alaskan, and another who seems more likely to shoot her than come to her aid, Calla grapples with forging her own path. In a world with roaming wildlife that has her constantly watching over her shoulder and harsh conditions that stretch far beyond the cold, dark, winter months, just stepping outside her front door can be daunting.

This is not the future Calla had in mind, leaving her to fear that perhaps she is doomed to follow in her mother's fleeing footsteps after all.

✫✫ 4.5 Stars ✫✫

I'm a sucker for any book set in Alaska and for K.A. Tucker's writing so this series is a double win for me. I liked this book in a very different way than I loved book 1. This one was a lot less emotional for me and had more about Alaska. I liked that this book picks right up where book 1 ended.
Calla & Jonah's story is sweet with some bumps along the way but they are mature and they work things out. That made me like this even more because the author told their story without the need for extra drama. I also loved all the side characters in this book. My favorite kind of side character is a grumpy old man that makes a new friend and shows his softer side. In the end book 1 had me in tears and book 2 made my heart smile.

The narration was perfect.

Horrible sequel

To put it mildly, I LOVE LOVE LOVED the first book Simple Wild! I was so excited when I found out that K.A. Tucker decided to continue Calla and Jonah’s story in this follow up novel. But this book was not only a lackluster storyline and seemingly no plot, but I hated that almost every chapter or sentence was filled with sex. The first book was so beautiful bc it was such a balance of tension, redemption and love- foreplay if you will. This book was all sex and very little love or story to keep attention. I was disappointed how KA took this seemingly beautiful storyline in this book.

K.A. Tucker did it again. You get all all the emotions with this book and I’m not even sad about it. It’s a beautiful story and I loved it.

Couldn’t stop listening! Obsessed! In love!

This second book in the series captivated me completely! She is a bit whinny but I’ve accepted that’s who she is. I love how much dialogue is in this book. Easy listen, prefect narration and characters!

Perfect!

I held back because I loved the Simple wild so much. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue Calla and Jonah’s story. But these next chapters were perfect and I’m so glad that I listened. The narrator is perfection and brought all of the characters to life! The perfect continuation of one of my favorite stories! ❤️

Not as good as book 1

I read the reviews saying book 2 could be skipped but I loved the two characters so I just wanted a little more at the end of the simple wild. The book is mostly Calla complaining and not communicating, Jonah doing whatever he wants, and random characters I just did not care about. At the very very end I finally (almost) cared about Roy- but it felt like we spent a lot of time on characters that just were not that exciting. Felt about 100 pages too long for the story- but I really did love The Simple Wild so much. Doesn’t even come close to book 1 but it helped me say goodbye to beloved characters so I can find the next book

Alaskan Details

The details of Alaska and life there are so spot on I find myself missing the state so much and wanting so badly to move back! The continued story was great, and I loved getting to know the new characters. I’m not one for the romance scenes in books so I skipped through, but despite that part, I loved the book & already downloaded the next novella. Please keep adding more to the series :)

Jonah & Calla

*****Spoiler Alert*****

Audible review. Single POV (Calla's). The Simple Wild series book 2. Rated PG-13. I enjoyed the narrator and listened at speed 1.50. Trigger warnings: dog injured in a near trap; plane crash; bear attack; 2 people forever lost to Alaska; a neighbor saved after he is crushed under his stash of prepared wood after an earthquake; and a bit of other woman drama.

The story pics up in November 2018 and runs through the December 2019. Jonah (31, 32) and Calla (26, 27) buy a home in Alaska. Calla adjusts to life in Alaska. Jonah proposes. JP

Just what we needed

These two just have my heart!!

I really had no idea where Calla and Jonah's story could be going. Initially, I thought they could be going down the same road as Calla's parents but every time something started taking a very similar route they would nip it in the bud.

Calla takes the leap and moves to Alaska, living in the middle of nowhere with her cowboy pilot Jonah. Plus a goat and raccoon. Then a bear. Oh and two-hybrid wolf dogs. Obviously not what she expected her new life to be but one she wouldn't change for the world. Calla and Jonah have their road bumps and there are some really on edge moments throughout. Old characters come back into the picture and new characters make their mark, especially Roy who probably becomes one of my favourite characters next to Zeke.

Why I held off on this series for so long is beyond me.

Loved the second book it was so great to continue showing how they where different to her parents.

I loved how she overcome a new area and adjusted. I felt like we needed more interactions with her and Jonah though.

Loved the ending though and looking forward to reading the last book.

I really enjoyed the conclusion of this novel, however I do not think it is as good and magical as the first one.

A life together in Alaska

Jonah and Calla make a life together in Alaska.
This book deals with becoming a part of a small community, and making a new business.
Jonah sidetracks the charter business, by becoming a fire fighter in his plane and working for a safari company.
Calla has many lessons to learn about this isolated, harsh environment.
