Laugh out loud funny.

This was really quite good. I really enjoyed the characters. Their was just such a mixed bag. Parts were very sad but other parts quite funny. Karen Cass did a really great job of narrating. All around good book.

Fun book

Easy book to enjoy. A break book - between murder & mayhem. But, an ok story, affirming that status quo is rarely enough.

Not Portia's Best

Storyline felt slow and ambling. No surprises or even moments of "oh no" or "oh my gosh what will happen next?". Would recommend if you feel like a read akin to a wander through the countryside.

Spot on!

I’ve listened to several Macintosh novels right in a row lately as kind of an addiction. Potentially as an escape from stressful stuff but I’m glad I did. This one struck me because I actually teared up! Not only was it particularly hilarious (wake date) but the care some of the characters had for each other was so touching. Karen Cass narration is perfection per usual.

Uneventful

This book is under the Romance category, but the focus really isn't on a romantic relationship. At it's core this book is really about a character on a self discovery journey. She is at a crossroads in her career and reconnects with her family while she is figuring things out. Any romantic elements are faaar in the background. There isn't much going on to this story plotwise. Pretty slow and uneventful. I love Portia Macintosh's books though, I think you should give the other ones a chance. The only ones I didn't like are this one and My Great Ex-Scape, but the rest are great!

Slow, predictable and boring

I can’t believe I listened to the whole thing. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen, and then it was over.

Love Love Love!

I absolutely loved this book! This story gripped me from the very beginning and I was engaged the whole time. I finished this book in 2 days I couldn’t stop listening to it. I wish this story kept going I enjoyed it so much. Most romantic comedies are super predictable but this one had enough great turns and possible love interests you really didn’t know what way it was gonna go. I also love that the main character is an actress, I feel like this is something you don’t always see in these stories. 10/10 would recommend!

Just awesome

I discovered PMs books a few months ago and haven’t been able to stop listening- they are just perfect; and Will they, won’t they doesn’t disappoint. Love the characters, funny, relevant and perfect escapism. Thank you PM you’ve gotten me through a rough few months :)

*What will Emmy do*

This is an easy read with light touches of comedy. The star of the show Emma Watson (Not The Emma Watson from Harry Potter lol) is an actor and due to the fact you can’t have the same name as an existing actor her stage name is Emmy Palmer. She is in a fantasy show that is doing well and due to a tragic family event and a scandal that has broken painting her as the villain, she decides to to go back to the place where she was brought up.

Once there she realises how much she has missed seeing her family in the flesh. There is also the childhood crush who she hankers for, in her head he is the one for her and there is a catalogue of errors which involve her being a wingman for one of her aunt’s on a date and the man she is with reminds her of someone…. Who could it be?

The book also addresses her blended family because her parents split up years ago and they both have more children and Emmy virtually feels like a stranger to her half siblings and there is more drama when she meets the next door neighbour who irritates her yet she feels drawn to him.

And there is more drama when it comes to Emmy staring in a pantomime in the old rundown theatre

Emmy has to decide where her heart lies and what she wants her future to look like…..

"Will They, Won't They?" is not the right title

Because this story is not about a couple who might or might not get together. And it got me a little frustrated because I was expecting a love story and this is more about a B actress not knowing what to do with her life and who dislike everything and everyone. It also touches a sensitive topic in a very light way, with no trauma or drama to her, only that it cost her her job. The performance was excellent though, but the story not so much.

Slow start but worth waiting for

The narrator made this book but it took a couple of hours to get going. Eventually the story was worth the wait.

Literally the most boring book I’ve ever listened to

I’ve 3.5 hours left from this book but literally nothing interesting happened in the whole book so far. This book is sooooo dull, I want to pull my hair out!! I kept thinking (hoping) that something will happen but nope!
An actress gets axed from her TV show, her grandad dies, she goes back to her hometown, buys his house so she can renovate it, against her wish she gets involved in performing in a pantomime and in the process she meets up with a guy whom she went to school with.
Bloomin boring!

PORTIA 'S BOOKS + KAREN CASS NARRATING = FAB!!

I love PORTIA Macintosh books because they are always different but in a familiar way.

Portia always manages to put a Personal message into her books and I haven't been let down yet and I've nearly listened to all of her audio books.

This story was great and it had some lovely life lessons in it, it was relatable.

Karen Cass did a 5 Star 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 job at performing the narration of this book, she is definitely on the list as one of my favourite narrators.
I am always happy to spend a credit on Portia Macintosh 's books and I recommend this book

Laugh out loud funny 😆

I loved this! As with the other books of hers that I've listened to, this brilliant book by Portia Macintosh was both feel good and laugh out loud funny.

Brilliantly narrated and acted, as always, by Karen Cass.
