Publisher's Summary

Nasir Valentine has one thing on his mind: winning a championship title in his first year as head coach of the boys basketball team.

But when his team captain’s father is murdered just before the start of the season, he quickly learns coaching high school basketball in the inner city is a lot more than just drawing numbers and arrows on a dry erase board.

Struck by the tragedy of her father’s murder, Carmen Wellington is faced with the tough decision of keeping her life away from home or coming back to her hometown to support her little brother through his senior year of high school. It’s a decision that will change her life in more ways than one, especially with her brother’s handsome basketball coach in the picture.

Carmen is supposed to be focused on what’s best for her and her family. Nasir is supposed to be focused on what’s best for him and his team. But with those two worlds colliding and an undeniable attraction developing because of it, the two can only hope for more wins than losses....

Nope

If you enjoy hearing the words “chuckle” and “giggle” over and over, this may be for you.

Great book but....

I’ve read the hard copy of this book before and fell in love with the story. So naturally I was very excited to see if become an audio book. However, the male narrator just didn’t cut it for me. I had a hard time staying engaged in the story while he was reading his parts. There was too much emphasis on the wrong words or something. Overall, his performance felt like watching a tv show with bad acting.

Wins & Losses For The Win!!!

I was not expecting Wins & Losses to be so good! The drama wasn't overstated or understated. It had just the right amount to keep the storyline interesting. I didn't just fall in love with Carmen and Nassir. Jordy stole a little bit of my heart too. The dynamics of his and Carmen's relationship was the highlight of the book for me. I love how the death of their father brought them closer together. Carmen and Nasir were perfect for each other. Given the drama she went through with her trifling azz fiancé and so called bestie, the progression of their relationship still managed to be natural and organic. The author didn't rush their union. She let it progress accordingly. Speaking of Will and Maxine, I do believe they have tied for the number one spot as the worst people ever. I don't think I've ever wanted to whoop a character's azz as much as I wanted to whoop Maxine. That backstabbin' heffa deserved that azz whoopin' Carmen gave her. If a wolf in sheep's clothing was a person, it would definitely be Maxine. But that's okay because, in the end, she got hers. Or, should I say, she didn't get hers. Meaning, she did all that scheming just to end up pregnant and alone. God don't like ugly. Nasir's parent were a hoot. Tina and Martin are the parents we all deserve. They were hilarious! Alexandra Warren really hit it out of the box with Wins & Losses. The characters were easy to connect with and you found yourself rooting for everyone. The author takes us on a rollercoaster of emotions from grief and loss to passion and betrayal! This book was a winner!

Enjoyed...

I enjoyed the audiobook for the most part. I read the book and looked forward to hearing it. Wesleigh Siobhan was excellent as always. The male lead is not my favorite with whatever name he uses. Overall it was a good listen.

Compelling story with great narration!

This was my first book by Warren and definitely won't be my last. I loved the characters, story, and narration by Wesleigh Siobhan and Chance Smolders! Warren explored grief, familial relationships, and a friends-to-lovers romance while skillfully weaving moments of levity throughout. Looking forward to reading more books by this author!

Great storyline

enjoyed the story but some of the language was distracting. the over use of racial slurs regardless of who is using them is unacceptable and takes away from the story.

Loved it

At first, she pissed me off by how stupid she was. I was like “girl, you should have left his ass based on his behavior at the funeral” but I have to give her full marks on that beat down she gave. Lol
