Publisher's Summary

Pirateaba returns, bringing you the thrilling fourth instalment of chart-topping LitRPG series The Wandering Inn.

It’s still winter, but everyone’s on the move. Rags the goblin is heading north, seeking allies against the Goblin Lord.

And Erin is going home...or trying to, at least. She’s determined to bring back cheer to The Wandering Inn - as well as Christmas! But the coldest time of the year leads to strange encounters with a number of people.

At the same time, Ryoka Griffin is far from what she would consider to be “home”. Deep in the north, in the city of Invrisil, she finds herself as the guest of Magnolia Reinhart. She must carefully negotiate the good graces of the Deadly Flower of the North. Like Erin, her success depends on friendships made by meetings of coincidence.

Includes the story of Wistram Days, when Ceria and Pisces first meet in the Academy of Mages, Wistram.

the Wandering Inn

you know how every so often there's a book that you just can't put down.
I think I got all of an hour of sleep in the past 34 hours of listening to this.

A Must Listen for Fantasy Fans

Excellent writing. Excellent narration. Excellent storytelling. Excellent world building. Excellent character development.

The only negative thing you can say about pirateaba's world of stories are that they are almost too vast for their own good. Things can sometimes seem unfocused, and it can take hundreds of pages before you return to the "main characters" stories. I think The Wandering Inn would benefit from having certain books be divided into side novels or novellas (particularly the Wistram Days chapters), but it's really hard to complain because the quality of writing never dips. I enjoy every moment of Rags' story as well as every moment of Erin and Ryoka's.

Meh

I usually only give 5 stars but this book fell flat for me. The last half was ok, but the first half was so uninteresting and miserable that I couldn't recover. I found myself just looking forward to it being over. I don't know how to review specific issues without spoiling things, but in short I think that the author assumes that it's ok to spend over a third of the 30 hour book giving outrageously in depth back story for both goblins and Wistrum Academy. Not progressing the story. In my admittedly annoyed opinion both of those should have been reduced by about 100/1 or turned into novellas. I'll keep reading the series but man I hope it doesn't have any more 10 hour tangents. Conflict, build up, conclusion were mostly absent. As was a decent ending jeez that was a crap, confusing tacked on ending. 3.2/5 with rice. Will pick up the next one with considerably less excitement than this one.

Starting to get boring

The story is starting to get boring because it’s spends way too much time focusing on character actions that aren’t important to the story. Also the story is way too divided the only character that I actually care for is Aaron. And I do not like the goblin side even though it’s giving a lot of lore it is an interesting itself. don’t give me wrong I’m still going to continue the story but it is getting a bit annoying to having to skip five chapters at a time just for me to get to the parts I like.

Amazing addition.

The writing is amazing, and the narration only elevates that. It feels like I got an entire second book right in the middle of this one, and it was wonderful.

So I preordered this book and the book before it and was pleasantly surprised whenever this book showed up in my library. I am currently listening to the first chapter and I’m looking forward to finishing this book.

Great Book - Zero Story Progression

First off let’s start with is this an excellent book? Yes it is, very well written and helps you fall in love with the characters. Absolutely will have trouble putting it down.

Is this a good 4th installment for the series? No. Just like book 3 we have had little to no progression of the main character storyline. The last two hours of this entire book pushed the story forward and only a tiny bit.

Most of this book was spent on additional character story arcs, the problem with that is they are just left their in the wind. We hear from the emperor for a tiny bit has his story moved? Nope. We hear from rags, has her story moved? Very little.

The point is the writer is making so many loops and story arcs that the main characters are becoming sub stories. Shit we saw our old skeleton for a few mins then never mentioned again.

I don’t know what is going on but I am beginning to think the series is dead. Sad , I really loved the first two books

Please hurry with making volume 5

A superb book, in a superb series with amazing characters, plot lines and world building. I truly feel like I am right there with the characters in the world so expertly crafted by the author, the perfect performance of Andrea Parsneau pulled me out of my world into pirateaba's.
please, please, please make volume 5 as soon as you can. In the meantime, I'll reread the entire series so far, again. keep writing pirateaba and keep recording Andrea, please.

Why? Why did it end?

This series of books have become one of the best I've ever 'read'.
I'm not being dramatic or exaggerating in any way, believe me!
I've read a lot of books - none of them 'great literature' or ' world bending' I'm afraid. I find them boring, mainly because I don't have the intelligence to understand them but a book, like this that brings me to tears, sobbing Infact, and then giggling like a school girl the next? That to me is a real book.
I don't think that you should read this until you have read the others - the story needs all the bits for you to understand what's going on, to know why the sobbing and the laughter... Well, this is a bit long so I'd leave it there.

The gift that keeps on giving!

Excited for this after listening to the rest. Eager for the continuation of Erin’s story and her close friends.

… Not to spoil but there is ALOT of Rags’ story in the first few hours and it is all very important to the world building but I just was and am not as invested in the goblins life… better than a shorter book for sure but would of loved more of everyone else’s story at the start rather than goblin goblin and more goblin.

That being my only slight negative feelings tho dispute that Rags’ story was fine and I’m glad when it is over it’s done and out of the way then it was onto the main course and desert!

Loved it all and looking forward to the next instalment.

Second best book series I’ve read/listened

Mostly filler

Excellent narration, as always. Was disappointed that this book contained so much side story, over 8hrs straight of backstory for side characters at one point. Pre-ordered this as I enjoyed the previous books so much, this was not on par with them at all. Written well but not near as interesting.
