Story
In the years since Lindon left Sacred Valley, he has attained power beyond anything his family thought possible. Now he’ll have to put those powers to the test, because a Dreadgod is on its way. Lindon and his allies set out to evacuate the valley before the arrival of the Wandering Titan, but their sacred arts are weakened by an ancient curse. They’ll have to persuade the squabbling inhabitants of Sacred Valley to leave behind their home and set off into the outside world. But it has been a long time since Lindon left, and more has changed than he realized.

Afflicted with a painful disease and abandoned by his parents because of it, he has had to fight tooth and nail for every minor advantage life has allowed him. Story
I never believed in the whole “light at the end of the tunnel” folly where people, after having a near-death experience, would startle awake in a cold sweat exclaiming, “I saw the light!” But there I was, in this so-called “tunnel” facing a glaring light, when the last thing I remembered was sleeping in my room - the royal bed-chamber, as others called it. Had I died? If so, how? King Grey once benefited from unrivaled strength, wealth, and prestige in a world governed by martial ability but now finds himself reborn in a society dominated by magic.

Jin Rou wanted to be a cultivator. A man powerful enough to defy the heavens. A master of martial arts. A lord of spiritual power. Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck in his body. Arrogant Masters? Heavenly Tribulations? All that violence and bloodshed? Yeah, no thanks. I’m getting out of here. Farm life sounds pretty great. Tilling a field by hand is fun when you’ve got the strength of ten men—though maybe I shouldn’t have fed those Spirit Herbs to my pet rooster.

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Accidentally murdered by a cleric in another universe during a botched resurrection, Arnold, a semi-pro gamer, wakes upon an altar to find himself incarnated into the overweight body of a farmer who could have been his fatter twin. He’s not the hero. He’s not the villain. He’s certainly not the chosen one who is there to save the world. He’s a clerical error. It could be a bad joke, but apparently, it happens so often that they have a standard procedure for returning you.

Absolute masterpiece
I have always viewed authors as simply storytellers or creative people. This book led me to an epiphany. Authors, or at minimum Will Wight, are artists. The story written by Will and read by Travis Baldree is an absolute masterpiece. It seems that I rate every new book in this series as better than the last. This series is simply incredible. Even at full price, this series is a must read. I'm in awe. Utterly incredible, gentlemen. Well done.

A brilliant new entry to the series
This book is significantly longer than its predecessors and that is a great thing! Nothing feels rushed and more characters get "screen time". It also doesn't feel too long, there is something happening all the time and there is not one boring or even "meh" moment in it.
I especially loved all the little things that Will managed to sneak in. It is great to see an author that hears his audience and is not afraid to cater to their likes.
The narration is amazing as usual. Travis does an amazing job once again at bringing these characters to life.
The book is one of the strongest (if not THE strongest) entries in the series and is definitely a great setup for the next one. I am very excited to see where do our old and new friends end up going.

what a great book after all the suspense
I originally read the cradle books 1-5 in a weekend - I remember looking for the author on Twitter just to give immediate feedback on how much I loved the books. They are just genius! Book 7 ended on a precipice so sharp it could give you paper cuts. I have never tried to gently encourage an author to keep writing like I did with book 8 of this series. As part of the book launch all 7 of the first books were free on amazon and I finally decided to take the plunge and buy audiobooks (at the cheaper rate) and my word.... Travis... Travis....What a narrator!
It was a wonderful experience to listen to all 8 books.
That long intro was to say book 8 was amazing and I loved how the tournament went and off course... i am waiting for the next book once again. I love how every book gives me a different favourite character - this review is making me want to read this book again (sigh)

What a knockout!
Consider, a story fleshed out with political, social and high fantasy concepts, woven into dialogue and satisfying detail like tapestry across 8 segments. That's the series of cradle. There isn't enough written and said to me, that really satisfies me, but it's everything I ever wanted, and more! Travis Baldree has me in love, except it's all Will Wight's words. My soul is torn, but this is what I wanted... "Gratitude!"

Advancement, fighting, drama, suspense, sacred arts. What more could you ask for? Excellent narration as always.
