Publisher's Summary

Cozy up for a heartfelt, humorous, sizzling slow-burn in this marriage of convenience romance about finding love - and home - in the most unlikely of places.

Axel

Rooney Sullivan is sunshine incarnate. Warm, bright, always smiling, she's everything I'm not and the last person I have any business desiring. Desperate to hide a hopeless attraction, I've done everything possible to keep my distance...until a charades game gone wrong brought that to a grinding halt.

Since then, steering clear of Rooney has been impossible. In a matter of months, she's kissed me speechless, commandeered my art career, and infiltrated not only my dreams but my home. The woman who was once avoidable has become the last thing I needed: temptingly within reach.

Rooney

Axel Bergman is a gorgeous grump who doesn't have the time of day for me. Thankfully, I've kept my crush under wraps...well, until I kissed him. Charades got away from me, okay? It was an accident! I haven't seen him since, which is for the best. My life is a mess, and the last thing I need is to embarrass myself further with the man who avoids me like that’s his job rather than painting modern masterpieces.

It seems the universe, however, has a different plan. When Axel and I unexpectedly find our paths - and problems - converging, a marriage of convenience proves the perfect solution. At least, until I'm facing my most serious problem yet: a once-loveless marriage of convenience that's inconveniently become a love match, after all.

Love this!

Great characters, and I love that they both had conditions that don’t often (or ever) make it into rom coms. The female narrator wasn’t my favorite/sounded too hold and not right for the character, but apart from being poorly cast, she did a good job. The male narrator was spot on.

A little tedious

I loved the first book in this series but this book lacked a little in character and plot development. Although the idea is fun, it was a tiny bit boring and unbelievable. The male character voice is TERRIBLE.

Narration is perfect

I love this series. I was looking forward to Axel's story and wasn't disappointed. The narration by both CJ Bloom and Nelson Hobbs was perfect, as usual.

Maybe It’s me.

I really wanted to love this book. I really thought I’d love this book. With glowing reviews read, I started on the “marry me so I can get my inheritance” journey that I always love. I tried, I really did try to love the characters but they fell very flat. In fact the entire book was flat and boring. I wound up skipping 10 chapters, tried to read the end, realized I really didn’t care about how it ended, then cursed the time I had already spent on it. An artist and a girl with ulcerative colitis have a marriage of convenience, for him, and she’s ok with that. It had potential but the performances were a big yawn for sure and the story was a sleeper. Maybe it’s just me…but I’d skip this one. Oh, I did like the dog…

So freakin good- how is this possible😭

Im on a three book bender in this series bergman brothers! Ugly crying so much- my partner just brought me tea and squeezed my shoulder! This one does not disappoint. As usual we learn about chronic health issues, we empathize with how ourselves and others process stuff and we get to hear updates on previous characters from the series. I thought I knew what would happen brooding curmudgeon dude meet sunshine girl.. yada yada… but that wasnt it all. The characters and their issues were simple and complex. The romance and intimacy of getting to know someone for all they are in that moment! The family is sweet and endearing and side splittingly funny! Deep sigh 🥰this story is just as good as the first two.. I learned so much-

my takeaways- live and let live, accept people as they are, all the folks meant to love you are still ahead, keep your tribe close❤️ you can love and be loved and do the work to heal your issues so you can love freely! Man this was good!

yes.

At this rate, I can give Chloe five stars blindly and trust that it’ll be a home run. She is undeniably one of my favourite authors. This book was one of my most highly anticipated books this year and it was everything I wanted it to be and more. I am deeply, deeply satisfied. Axel is the sweetest grump ever. I am obsessed with him, I am obsessed with Rooney, and the love I have for every single character in this series literally overwhelms me.

There are so many beautiful, precious moments in this book. Some of my absolute favourite novels are ones where you can feel the energy of the setting so deeply, it’s almost like you’re right there with them, and this was no exception. I was at the A-frame and the cabin with Ax and Rooney. Each description was so vivid and beautifully depicted.

Chloe’s characters always feel very real and it’s something I truly admire. I love the ND and health representation and how in every book, the characters aren’t cookie cutter perfect; they feel like real, genuine people. What I liked most about Rooney and Alex was how unconditional their love was, and how gentle and careful they were with each other. I adored the safety they found in their relationship. While I loved every single moment, I have to say the winner for me was the scene before/when Willa and Ryder arrived. Truly a masterpiece right there. Outstanding content.

I’m so excited for Oliver’s story next. I’m excited for the rest of the books in this series and while I know it can’t go on forever, I still wish it would.
