Publisher's Summary

"Lots of talent here." (Best-selling author D. Fischer)

The mysterious plant-like beings known as Witterkin have been attacked and begin a viral spread, destroying everything they touch. Nya, a wise woman, and Yaro, the town Windsinger, try to heal the damage and halt the spread. However, something goes awry, and they both slip sideways into another world.

Nya emerges alone, greeted only by Yaro’s ghostly windsinging. During her dangerous search for him, she must combat the will of powerful figures who wish to hold him for their own ends. But rescuing the man she loves won’t solve the bigger problem. The evil that harmed the Witterkin now threatens both worlds. To fight it, Nya will have to delve deep into her own mysterious heritage.

Good reads

I was very impressed by the ease and logic between the different worlds. It was believable and still detailed.
The characters were enjoyable and that is my main reason for reading. Thank you.

Truly original fantasy

It is hard to describe what this book is like without spoiling some of the story. Suffice it to say its range of expression is enormous. It encompasses the very human drama of the people of a small town in a bygone era, but also psychedelically surreal, dreamlike scenes that fascinate like a Dali painting. The originality of the concepts W.K. Greyling has created and marshalled into a narrative is not just impressive, but refreshing. The mood shifts from fairy-tale to gritty low-magic fantasy, to transcendental revelation and then back again, and it doesn't feel "forced" at all. In each of these registers, Greyling produces unique ideas that excellently perform the role of speculative fiction: to make the reader/listener think, "what would it be like if this were real?"

If you are looking for a book that consistently plays out a sub-genre of fantasy, this is not that book. It is more ambitious than that, and it succeeds at more than that.

A wonderful book

Another excellent & exciting book from the author. A fantasy with a bit of romantic twist. The ending sets up a possible sequel as well. Character & story development are excellent & we'll thought out. Narration is excellent & very easy to listen to. Definitely buy this book & settle back for a great fantasy listen!

Refreshing and stirring fantasy

I love fantasy novels that bring me to a place where I ache deeply for good to happen to the main characters. My goodness, I loved Naya and Yaro in this stirring fantasy. Though we are introduced to them as merely friends, it is evident that there is something between them and something unknown keeping them apart. It is very interesting discovering the secrets in this book as the story unfolds in a beautiful way with a delightful pace.

In this book, there is something utterly touching the way both Naya and Yaro strive to keep each other safe. It reminded me of the enjoyable dynamics between Edward Cullen and Bella in the Twilight series. There are other pleasurable characters, and my favorite is Nenad. I might vote Nenad as one of the top ten characters I've adored in any book, he is too adorable. This truly was a fun book with an awesome characters and an awesome ending. The satisfying ending made me laugh and also cry tears of joy.

Kat Bohn's narration was just as awesome as the story. I loved the way she brought to life the many characters, it was part of what made this book a solid five stars.

Very Unusual Story

This is a strange type of story and it starts out very slowly. The MC is a young lady who's looks put off the people in here town. She is treated poorly and referred to as a Witch because she makes herbal remedies.
I usually truely enjoy this authors work, but this one left me wondering where the works are heading.

Unique and charming

I adore WK Greyling’s work. I love how the main characters ways have a strong connection to nature and the story always feels fresh and unpredictable. Witterkin was all of this with an added stronger sense of danger and suspense than her previous books, which I really enjoyed. I also really enjoyed Nya and Yaro and hope to see more of them in the future.

Great plot

This is a really good story which shows fantastic imagination. The characters were good and it was easy listening. The only let down was that it wasn’t described well enough so it was difficult to picture.

A breath of fresh air

This audiobook accompanied me on a couple of road trips. The fact that I pulled over for 20 minutes before I reached home just to finish the last chapter must speak volumes.

Great, unique story. Lovable characters and a need for more of the story!

I loved it!

I believe this is one of the best fantasy books I have ever read! it wasn't overly complicated, nor unnecessarily stretched. It was beautiful. The depths of the author's imagination amazed me, the concept of witterkin, the beings encountered here were new to me and I found them very original and the story unpredictable -which says a lot.
The narrator was brilliant, I hope they will continue the collaboration

Loved this book.
Maya is a easy to like.
Maya has had many changes in her life but has stayed true to her believes and strong protection of the Witterkin.
I loved the way Yaro and Naya worked togeather in an effect to save the Witterkin, discovering about themselfs on the way.
Narrator has done a great job.

One of the best authors in this genre

Things in Maya‘s life are changing her dad has passed away her brother is getting married in building a big fancy house that she wonders where he is getting the money from then she feels the winner Ken a true constant all her life is changing. But life is going to get even stranger which it goes to meet her love she slips into an alternate place her journey will not be for nothing though she will come to know her self find her true love and find out answers to questions about who she really is. I know this is a lame summary, but there is no way I could give any credit to such a great book I love this authors imagination and have read most of her books and I highly recommend them but winner Ken is like the Whitterkin is my absolute favorite. I thought the narrator did a pretty good job but some of her character sounded cartoonish although as far as cartoon voices go they were pretty good but not good for this part. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review but all opinions are definitely my own if you love sci-fi an alternate universe as you’re going to love this book! So good!

Great fantasy between 2 worlds

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
What a way to be drawn into another world by being in contact with a plant.
The Witterkin the all seeing and knowledge collector.
Not just a fantasy but one that follows the urge of power and greed with the consequences of actions.
My only question is, is there going to be a follow up or another story leading back to where the witterkin went?
Absolutely loved it.
