Publisher's Summary

I woke up in a battlefield triage tent, bloody, battered, and crippled.

It wasn't just my arm and shoulder that was broken, but also my mind. I couldn't remember anything—my name, who or where I was, or what had happened to me.

Could things get worse? Of course they could. The battle wasn’t over, and it appeared that our enemy wasn't content with just a victory. No. They sought to wipe us out. But why? If I lived long enough, perhaps I would find out.

Not everything was bleak, however. I had friends at my side—ones who challenged our cowardly leaders and fought to give me a chance. We could fight together and escape. But in an ether-ravaged, post-apocalyptic world cast back into the dark ages, where feudal lords once again fight for control over land and resources, that may be easier said than done.

Join Takemi in this wuxia-style progression fantasy as he journeys through a post-apocalyptic landscape. Ether ruined the old world, but it is building a new one, where mental constructs called mind palaces grant cultivators game-like perks and unlock almost superhuman abilities.

real review here not sugar coated

First off I'll say Eric the narrator carried this entire book. well at least up to the point where it had 3 hours left and I quit listening about 3 min ago so it's all still fresh... unfortunately.
I have no idea who wrote the good reviews but they are definitely not hardcore "wuxia-style" "progression fantasy" or litrpg fans at all. I on the other hand am with over 3000 hours invested in listening to books in this genre. with that said I understand everyone is a bit different and has different tastes so I will explain what I like and dislike in this genre and if your views are pretty similar to mine then you probably won't like it.
I like a strong, smart, and competent male MC. Overpowered is my favorite if it's done well but I also enjoy the story where they begin weak and grow their power but I don't like them to be weak for very long massive bumps in power are fine with me and I have no qualms about how they do it. I hate when MCs battle with constant moral dilemmas I want them to take charge and be assertive. arrogance is ok to a point as long as they can back it up 1000% post apocalyptic, cultivation, litrpg, wuxia, and progression are my favorite styles. I loath weak stupid bleeding heart MCs with a fiery passion.
this book here has a literal brain damaged MC that has no memories, there has been no leveling or progression of any kind. there is no grinding for power or main story. I don't even know who the "bad guy" is or anything it dosent even go into it. the world building is non existent so I don't know where anything is or what it looks like.
here is the story in a nutshell: Tic wakes up injured with no memories in a tent during a battle. his friends save him and take him back to the city they all live in. we figure out the duke that hired them to fight his enemies set them up to die (the story never follows this up). Tik gets patched up and trains every day discovers a couple abilities (burst of strength and speed burst) because he feels a strange power (that lasts for a couple weeks and is only spoke about for about 3-5 minutes) after his recovery and training for those two weeks he is introduced to his pushy annoying girlfriend and falls in love automatically even though he dosent know who she is. an important elite soldier dude started groping his barmade girlfriend he just met and he beats him and his two fellow elites up easily. worried about the guy getting even by hurting his new love he stakes out the bar he fought them in and catches the important soldier guy trying to kill his new old girlfriend. he knocks him out carries him way out in the woods cuts him open and let's wild animals eat him alive (yes I thought it was good up to about now to) after he murder hoboed the important elite soldier guy (no follow up on that either) his crew and him take a contract to help a noble kill a wolf because it has a certain type of core he needs to help him get more powerful. after finding the wolf the noble betrays the crew and attempts to kill them they capture him and the special core and all of the use it to get more powerful except they don't get more powerful. then they traveled to a cottage one of the crew knew about to lay low where tic meets his pushy annoying girlfriend that turns out to be physically stronger than him. that's where I quit. no progression, no cultivation, and no lit rpg. just a slow moving book about a group of friends fighting monsters so far.

Well this was a big fat disappointment

I listened to this thinking it was going to be a good litrpg or cultivation then got a big fat zero. Let's start with the MC he lost his memories, but then his so call friends try to treat him the same as before and he keeps apologizing for shit he doesn't know. By the time he met his girlfriend or whatever she was I WAS DONE!
This chick is crazy first off she is bipolar or something else. She is clam initially, then angry at the end, then back to calm. This was too much for me and I was done by this point. This is a big fat return!

The alpha omega stuff isnt true. Scientifically.

The guy who first posed that theory later discovered that that hierarchal structure was a response to being in captivity and offered limited resources. He has spent the rest of his life trying to tell people that that is not at all how they naturally behave in the wild and its basically a trauma response to being a prisoner. Quick google search.
Fun story tho

Loved this book can't wait for more

This story has great potential. There's a lot more for the MC to develop and unlock power-wise. I love the pov of their wolf buddy Omega (he's the best) it's adorable and funny in his pov. Just really excited for this series.

A very Good book.

It was a little slow at first. It picks up pretty fast couple hours. The narrator did good job in this book. I love the world the author made. If you like gaming and apocalypse books you should like this book. I cannot wait for the next one.
