Story
In Motherhood, Marchiano draws from a deep well of Jungian analysis and symbolic research to present a collection of fairytales, myths, and fables that evoke the spiritual arc of raising a child from infancy through adulthood. Divided into three major segments similar to the stages of a hero's initiatory journey, (Descent, Sojourn, and Return), Motherhood charts how events like pregnancy, the calamities of childhood, and the empty-nest experience are all parts of an odyssey to which every mother receives an invitation.

too abridged - too softly spoken
Would you try another book from Clarissa Pinkola Estes and/or Clarissa Pinkola Estes?
I love the actual brick and mortar book . And I have two more of hers - unabridged - in my cart right now.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Too softly spoken. I listen while driving and it's hard to pay attention with her soft, slow voice. It also lulls me to sleep a little. I've restarted a couple times, realizing that my mind was wandering and I had missed so much.
Any additional comments?
I love the actual brick and mortar book - and it's huge. I can't believe they condensed it in to less than 3 hours. It's too abridged

Abridged version narrated by the author
An excellent recording by the author herself, who as a storyteller and “cantadora” is exactly the right person to read it, and at times, sing it.
Note that it is not the full book. I did not know this before I downloaded it and was a little disappointed. However the recording at 2h20m long is very accessible and a great introduction to the book (which is very long and dense). It covers the main concepts and stories of the book. Excellent and highly recommended.

An amazing read for both men and women. For women, this book finally makes sense of why our lives are the way they are. For men, it allows men a greater understanding of the innate beauty present in every woman. This is a book that every young person should read or have read to them. Not the book!
This is NOT the book of the same name. It is more like a lecture that captures some but certainly not all the ideas in the book. It should have a different title. There are some great concepts in here but they are not fleshed out and there is so much missing from the wisdom offered in the book. Buyer beware.

Beautiful Audio
I took a long bath and listened to this audio, absolute bliss and so resonating. I immediately bought the book to gift to my sister at Christmas. Thank you x

Not the actual book
interesting and enjoyable but it's clearly not the book and is a very much abbreviated version. absolutely furious that I had to pay the full cost when I couldve spent the money on the book and gotten the full deal. but that's audible for you.
