Publisher's Summary

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is difficult, isn’t it?

You've probably known—all your life—that you're different.

As girls, we learn which behavior, thinking, learning, and working styles are preferred, which are accepted and tolerated, and which are frowned upon. These preferences are communicated in innumerable ways—from media and books to our first-grade classroom to conversations with our classmates and parents.

Over the course of a lifetime, women with ADHD learn through various channels that the way they think, work, speak, relate, and act does not match up with the preferred way of being in the world. In short, they learn that difference is bad.

This audiobook doesn’t force you to do anything you’re not ready to do. You have all the time in the world to complete it, and you do it on your terms and at your speed. I would therefore encourage anyone with ADHD to try doing a guided meditation included in this audiobook for the next 10 days. This is no myth, and although it might pose a challenge, it is definitely worth a try. This simple guided meditation practice will walk you through a mindfulness session and body scan to help you regain your attention from distractions, daydreaming, and fidgeting.

Unlike many ADHD treatments, mindfulness develops the individual’s inner skills. It improves your ability to control your attention by helping to strengthen your ability to self-observe, to train attention, and to develop different relationships to experiences that are stressful.

Get your audiobook now and start your journey to learn how to turn your fear and self-doubt into confidence and self-love.

Important hints for ADHD

The book, in my opinion, provided a wonderful introduction to ADHD and how people think. There were some valuable pointers. I wished the book had more information and included step-by-step directions

Really great for just learning about ADHD

I just began looking for tools to assist me comprehend my ADHD. I've had feelings of helplessness, perplexity, and general unsureness about how to go through life. I've always carried these things about with me, but since my father passed away, I've felt like they've simply bubbled over, which has pushed me to go even more into it. I really liked this and the additional resources at the conclusion because I want more!

Very helpful book

I learned a lot from this book and it validated my thoughts that I most likely have ADHD. I was able to relate to the first paragraph right away. I'll apply the advice to help me concentrate and remain on course. I appreciate your recording.

Awful - don’t read if you are a woman with ADHD

Where do I start. Don’t waste money your money on this. Just awful. The narrator sounds like Alexa monotone and glitchy. Totally unengaging for someone to listen to who has ADHD. Secondly I’m on chapter 4 and feel totally depressed basically her saying is that if you are a woman with ADHD you will be a failure and you will be open to depression, suicide and addictions. I fail to understand why anybody would find this book helpful. Her knowledge is outdated and seems to thin there is only one type of ADHD in girls and women, there are at least 7. As a woman who was diagnosed at 50 with ADHD and has struggled all of my life with other things people seem to find easy, despite this I am not a failure, I am not addicted to anything and I am not suicidal, yes I’ve struggled with all these things, but there are so many positives to having ADHD too and I wanted to add to my toolkit of how to manage my ADHD in a positive way. Sadly, this book offers no solutions and is all doom and gloom. Please don’t bother instead listen to ADHD conventions on YouTube to see how real people, successful people can have ADHD and manage their lives. Peter Shankman’s faster than normal is a better start than this.
