Publisher's Summary

The fourth in the Faithful and the Fallen series from John Gwynne, an epic fantasy perfect for fans of George R. R. Martin, Brandon Sanderson, and David Gemmell.

Events are coming to a climax in the Banished Lands, as the war reaches new heights. King Nathair has taken control of the fortress at Drassil and three of the Seven Treasures are in his possession. And together with Calidus and his ally Queen Rhin, Nathair will do anything to obtain the remaining Treasures. With all seven under his command, he can open a portal to the Otherworld. Then Asroth and his demon-horde will finally break into the Banished Lands and become flesh.

Meanwhile Corban has been taken prisoner by the Jotun, warrior giants who ride their enormous bears into battle. His warband scattered, Corban must make new allies if he hopes to survive. But can he bond with competing factions of warlike giants? Somehow he must, if he's to counter the threat Nathair represents.

His life hangs in the balance - and with it, the fate of the Banished Lands.

Fantastic Conclusion!

Wow! This was a fantastic conclusion! Initially, I struggled to get into the series, but it has improved with each book. The final installment was epic and action-packed. I could hardly put it down. After spending so much time with these characters (and growing to love them), it was so satisfying to finally see it all come together in the grand finale. And it was an impressive finale! The “final battle” is one of the best I’ve read, filled with intense fights (Gwynne particularly excels at writing action sequences) and poignant character moments. Overall, I enjoyed the series and highly recommend it.

I never write reviews but.....

I have listened to hundreds of audio books, mostly fantasy. This is one of the best series out there.
John Gwynne should be as known and loved as Sanderson. Just can not recommend these books enough! I've already purchased all three books in his next series - Of Blood and Bone, and anxiously awaiting The Dragon Unchained - expected in 2021.
Don’t miss these books!

Ever read the back of a shampoo bottle?

So this book series, enjoyed the first two, but wow you can tell that the author was running out of gas by the beginning of the third book, it got really repetitive really fast. Rinse and repeat, just like your shampoo bottle... hence the title.

One of the best series I have experienced!

Phenomenal! Beautifully written. Genius narration. I cried, laughed, was on the edge of my seat, was heartbroken, excited angry and frustrated. This series was amazing. Loved every book! my favorite line was, "All was chaos!" Bravo

Gory children’s book

This book is NOTHING like Game Of Thrones. It’s an ok story but this author is no where near the author George r r Martin is. His writing is corny in comparison.

Blood and guts

I really enjoyed all the books in this this series but I would classify them as old fashioned blood and guts fantasy (with plenty of both) that aren't for the squeamish . The author was able to blend different story lines and flesh out many characters. I would definitely want to listen to his other works.

The whisper yelling of the narrator

Story is good if relatively predictable. The action scenes where people are supposed to be yelling ect is super irritating. Remember when you were a kid and you’d pretend to be the crowd at a baseball game cheering for yourself? Yeah. That.

I did enjoy the few twists at the end tho!

Amazing

Just a fantastic book series that is some how made even better with the array of voices done and personality that the narrator adds to each character. I'm already looking forward to reading the series again and will be checking out A Time of Dread asap!
