Publisher's Summary

Events are coming to a climax in the Banished Lands as the war reaches new heights. King Nathair has taken control of the fortress at Drassil, and three of the Seven Treasures are in his possession. And together with Calidus and his ally, Queen Rhin, Nathair will do anything to obtain the remaining Treasures. With all seven under his command, he can open a portal to the Otherworld. Then Asroth and his demon-horde will finally break into the Banished Lands and become flesh.

Meanwhile Corban has been taken prisoner by the Jotun, warrior giants who ride their enormous bears into battle. His warband scattered, Corban must make new allies if he hopes to survive. But can he bond with competing factions of warlike giants?

Somehow he must, if he's to counter the threat Nathair represents. His life hangs in the balance - and with it the fate of the Banished Lands.

Good listen

I enjoyed this story, this series was a cool listen. I did enjoy the performance. the narrator did give me different characters and that was enjoyable.
An a whole, regarding the entire series I love the friendship and the truth and courage ideas throughout the stories.

The Final Book in this series, summed up the whole series. It had everything. Courage, valour, betrayal and love. A great series, a good ending.

this story does not disappoint

finished all four books in one week. it was non stop action from chapter one of the first book right until the end. The host of characters is so enormous that it wasn't until the second book that I could keep track of everyone's storyline which was a little off-putting but apart from that I can not fault this series at all. Think Game of Thrones meets Lord of the Rings and this is what you get. The story is a beautiful story of friendship in the middle of battle after battle. As much as I enjoyed every sword swing, battle axe swipe, every arrow nocked, there really is more to it than the fighting.

Brutal

This book follows on from the battle of Drassil. The Bright Star’s band of friends are now scattered and the worse for wear. With what is to come, Corwin will need all of his companions and strength to fight what is coming.

This is a book filled with blood soaked battles and betrayals. There is no time to catch your breath as the action is back-breaking. There are some real tear jerkers for those weak, like myself, and some beloved characters will be lost. But there is always a cost to be paid.

A must listen

This is a four book series. I initially bought this thinking it was a trilogy and had to wait painfully for the forth to be released. A wonderful listen following a young Corban growing into a leader and a worrier. Great story. Well recommended

endings

Seemed a bit rushed towards the end after killing off so many hopes of a Disney ending. I loved this series.

Deserves more than 5*****

Excellent ending to a phenomenal 4 book series. The final 200 pages is un-putdownable. Brilliant performance by Damien Lynch.

Not the best finale

The story drove this series and kept me with it- not the narration and not the writing. Yet, the story collapsed a bit with this final book - it was all just a bit rushed and unbelievable. Let's just chuck this character in a cauldron and be done with them. . . Sometimes Gwynne writes things that are not quite right- like an expression or description that's just awkward and doesn't mean what he thinks it means. The reader should not feel like they need to correct the writing as they read. I was left feeling underwhelmed overall. This series had the potential to be concluded a lot better than this.

Sloppy ending to a good series

An entertaining series and great for his first works. But unfortunately wrath may be the worst of the 4 books.
