Now, for the first time in the English language, Tantra Illuminated presents an accessible introduction to this sacred tradition that began 1,500 years ago in the far north of India.

Humanity now, perhaps more than in any previous time, has an opportunity to create a new, saner, more loving world. This will involve a radical inner leap from the current egoic consciousness to an entirely new one. In illuminating the nature of this shift in consciousness, Tolle describes in detail how our current ego-based state of consciousness operates. Then gently, and in very practical terms, he leads us into this new consciousness. We will come to experience who we truly are and learn to live and breathe freely.

LIFE CHANGING!!!!!!!!!

By: Eckhart Tolle
Publisher's Summary
The first two limbs of the eight-fold path of yoga sutras - the basic text for classical yoga - are examined in this spiritual guide to the practice of yoga. Foundational to all yogic thought, they are considered to be the guidelines to the yoga way of living that free individuals to take ownership of their lives, direct them toward the fulfillment they seek, and gain the skills to choose attitude, thought, and action.
The first five guidelines are referred to as the yamas - a Sanskrit word that translates to "restraints" - and encompass nonviolence, truthfulness, not stealing, nonexcess, and nonpossessiveness. The last five are referred to as the niyamas, or observances - purity, contentment, self-discipline, self-study, and surrender.

The Ancient Ethical Practice (Yoga Sutras)
There is not much here. If you want the ancient wisdom, just read the Sutras. What is here is a rehash of the obvious with a healthy dose of self righteousness and condescension.
I could not get past the one hand on hip finger waggingness of the author, even though it is read with a clear and lovely voice.

Wisdom through the lens of a White Saviour
Decent breakdown of Patanjali's sutras but the author - a self-admitted egoist - has obviously written this book for herself. Contains some insight but most of the desperate attempts at saying something profound mainly sound naive or cringy. Mostly the book is only a little better than what you'd expect from the stereotypical upper middle-class white woman who begins to dabble in eastern spirituality to gain some substance to their bourgeoise life.
"Being human is the greatest adventure you can have", she attempts from her cozy life. Tolerate the platitudes and there's some food for thought.

Want to listen but can’t.
I love the content of this book but find the readers voice annoying...whispered and affected. Just because it is on yogic content doesn’t mean that the voice has to be this whispered and affected tone. It annoys me when I hear yoga teachers talk like this. It is not their natural voice when they then go to order a coffee at a cafe!! Not necessary! I am going to buy the book because I can’t finish listening to it!
