Publisher's Summary

Watching his crewmates fall in love has left York craving a female of his own. That’s how he ends up being matched to a Parri female through a service to find bond mates. He’s excited at the prospect when he arrives on planet Relon. Until he actually meets her.

Betrayed by her government in a bid for alien technology, poverty-stricken human Sara is doomed to be a prince’s sex toy, until she’s rescued on a planet that doesn’t take kindly to slavers. Suddenly free, she’s an outcast on her new home, treated with distrust...by everyone except a gorgeous, kind, huge blue alien. Too bad he’s getting married the next day. His future bond mate is a horrid, abusive woman, and Sara has a way to save them both - she’ll convince York to bond with her instead.

Contains mature themes.

York

Yes Yes York! I love this story, I love how protective he is but not only that Sara is just as protective. I love the way they came to be.

Life for a human isn’t all that its cracked up to be in space. And Sara sees York and how he was being treated by a female that was to become his and she just couldn’t understand that kind of cruelty. So she seeks to change it and in the process, she is about to change her own life.

York is perfect for Sara but she is just as perfect for him. I love that the crew just accepted her with open arms just as they have everyone else mate. These stories are all so individual just connected. I can’t wait for the last book.

The narration is awesome again I love that each book is done in a new narrative but each narrator really brings these characters their own voices.

The narrator ruined the book

We met York in the previous 2 books as a happy-go-lucky character. He was sociable and likeable. The narrator (who also did the previous 2 books) all of the sudden changed his voice and cadence to the alien version of Eeyore. Initially I thought she just tried to show that he was depressed because he was lonely and unhappy. Unfortunately this was not the case. It is jarring to have a character's voice and personality change so much from one book to the next.

I won't be listening to this book again.

So-so

Not enough building of the story or the two main characters. Ended abruptly on the main characters. Too much unnecessary talk about things that didn't move the story along. 😏 a bit disappointed

Kindhearted York

York was such a sweet, gentle, and kind alien. The fact that he was so alone now that Cathian and Dovis were bonded and wanted what they had hit me in the feels. He was willing to bond to a terrible woman to get some semblance of the love they had. Luckily, his chance encounter with Sara who sees how terribly he's being treated by his soon to be mate puts her future in his hands. Sara had a terrible life and was sold by her own planet in slavery. Its with York that she's find a future with him and life she never thought she would have. I also liked that this one is bit exciting with some action and we get to see Raff in action. Samantha Summers was good and I liked her as Sara a lot and made her voice go real gentle and kind for York.

Could have had more characters development

A tad too short to have the depth that makes a story extra special for me, but nevertheless a good storyline and nice characters.
Different from most romance books, there wasn’t any conflict between the main characters, but the conflict was created from the outside. That isn’t a big problem but it doesn’t allow the MCs to grow like they could have IMO.

Like the series

And the narrators. this is a very light book and short. On the whole, the series is ok and I have read all the books more than twice. This is one of my go to series when I hit a slump. no thinking required.

What happened to York “blue vampire + Hulk” joker?

Book 2 described York as “blue vampire meets Incredible Hulk” and had him as this garrulous jokester who beds lotsa alien babes and trash talks with the rest of the Vorge crew. This book turns him into this mellow-fellow, a low-slow talker who lets a valley-girl alien biyatch walk all over him because he’s lonely. I liked the idea of human Sara rescuing him from the potential ball & chain, but it’s all talk and no action. This was very meh; my least liked in this series.

2.5 ⭐

The first half 3 ⭐. The second half, for a person who has not read the previous books, 2 ⭐. Definitely not a stand-alone book.

As my favorite trope of lonely people finding comfort in each other, I quite enjoyed the beginning. Not much plot otherwise. The attempt of her previous slave owner to retrieve her wasn't terribly exciting to me, not knowing anything about the plethora of characters just introduced.

love these books love this author

I love the books I love the sex I love the author. some people think the sex is overdone but you know for those of us that only get it through the written word for one reason or another it's fine for me. the one problem is a lot of people that read for Ms Donner it's I wish they would just read the book or stop trying to be men so hard. and from one book to the next to be really nice that the characters voices didn't change. if it's the same reader why do you change the voice of the characters. it's rather annoying

#yorkismybondmate if you don't get it then read the book xoxo

I'm already a Dohner fan and read and listened to a lot of her books. Loved the whole Vorge series so far, but I must admit I've got a bit of a soft spot for York. He's the kind of guy who could hold his own in a fight but also loves to cuddle (he's complicated ha ha)

Good for what it is

This was an enjoyable fun easy listen, and much better than other books in this genre.
