Story
In Try Softer, you'll learn how to: know and set emotional and relational boundaries; make sense of the difficult experiences you've had; identify your attachment style-and how that affects your relationships today; move through emotions rather than get stuck by them; and grow in self-compassion and talk back to your inner critic. Trying softer is sacred work. And while it won't be perfect or easy, it will be worth it. Because this is what we were made for: a living, breathing, moving, feeling, connected, beautifully incarnational life.

Story
We're all infected with a spiritual disease. Its name is shame. Whether we realize it or not, shame affects every aspect of our personal lives and vocational endeavors. It seeks to destroy our identity in Christ, replacing it with a damaged version of ourselves that results in unhealed pain and brokenness. But God is telling a different story for your life. Psychiatrist Curt Thompson unpacks the soul of shame, revealing its ubiquitous nature and neurobiological roots. He also provides the theological and practical tools necessary to dismantle shame.

It's one thing to know in your head that you were created in the image of God. Yet it's quite another to experience this belief in your body, against the cultural ideals of a woman's worth. And between the two lies a world of frustration, disappointment, and the shame of somehow feeling both too much and never enough in your body. Jess Connolly knows this inner conflict all too well, and this book details her journey - and yours - of setting out to discover how to break free from the broken beliefs we all hold about our bodies that hold us back from our fullest life.

Change comes most readily when you understand what's standing between you and success and tailor your solution to that roadblock. If you want to work out more but find exercise difficult and boring, downloading a goal-setting app probably won't help. But what if, instead, you transformed your workouts so they became a source of pleasure instead of a chore? Turning an uphill battle into a downhill one is the key to success.

Publisher's Summary
If I asked you to name your favorite things - the things you love - how long would it take for you to name yourself?
If you’re anything like me, you’ve tried to love God and love others without thinking too much about yourself. Wanting to avoid self-centeredness, I doubted myself and condemned myself - I even hated myself - until I noticed the ancient words of Mark 12:31: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” A gentle whisper led me in a new direction, and everything in my life began to change.
In You Are Enough, Jonathan Puddle teaches how to:
- Love your body and embrace the space you take up.
- Discern God’s presence and feel safe with your creator.
- Get to know your emotions and inner life.
- Encounter love in the most scarred, scared, and sacred places of your heart.
- Love your whole self the way God does, with gentleness and compassion.
Drawing from Scripture, trauma-informed therapy, Christian inner-healing, breathing and embodiment exercises, and silent prayer and contemplative spirituality, You Are Enough is a holistic healing journey toward abundant life. Daily messages are easy to understand, with practical exercises to help you embrace the truth of your beloved-ness in every part of your mind, body, soul, and spirit.
Features guided audio and meditations to take your journey to the next level.
Jonathan Puddle is an award-winning writer, speaker, husband, and father who hosts the popular interview show The Puddcast. Having travelled the world and lived in many nations, Jonathan teaches from a culturally rich and spiritually inclusive framework. He writes about freedom, hope, and sacrificial love at jonathanpuddle.com. Jonathan and his family reside in Ontario, Canada, where they pastor families and children at a thriving community church.

Excellent, eclectic approach to spiritual health and enlightenment.
I love how Mr. Puddle reads his material with such empathy and enthusiasm.
The meditations are so helpful and the way he arranges the book as instruction followed by daily practice gave me the time to effectively digest what I was learning.
I appreciate how he draws on disciplines and exercises from such a wide variety of sources, many of which I wouldn’t expect to find adjacent within one author’s work.
The sections dealing with guardian, inner child, and function (adult self) were new to me and very healing.
I will continue to revisit various chapters and meditations because I believe there is more time needed for me to fully absorb this book.
I am so thankful for the time and energy that the author took to make this material available.
