Publisher's Summary

You believe (or want to believe) God has called you and given you purpose, but where do you start? How do you get from feeling stuck to making a move? If this sounds familiar, best-selling author Jess Connolly has a message for you: You Are the Girl for the Job.

But this is not simply a peppy catchphrase. This is the straight-up truth God has proclaimed over your life from the beginning, and it's not dependent on what you can do or achieve but is based on his power, capacity, and character.

It has taken one million, maybe one zillion (who knows?), slight moves of his hand to place you in this exact moment. So forget about fear and second-guessing your gifts, because God has meticulously prepared you to be an ambassador for the kingdom right where you are, here and now. Life is too short to get stuck in a holding pattern of shame, self-doubt, and comparison. So let this audiobook be your very good news: You don't have to wait for permission when you've already been commissioned.

With passion and heart-pumping hope, Jess shows that being the girl for the job doesn't depend on your capacity. Rather, it has everything to do with God's capacity and our willingness. It has everything to do with believing we are who God says we are and quieting any inferior word spoken against us. Are you ready?

Let this audiobook be your jump-start into confident, purposed living, as Jess walks you through the six steps she has used to coach and encourage women for years: Set your focus, take stock of the story that has shaped you, face your fear, catch the vision, make a plan, and finally, make your move - all in the bold belief that God has called you to every step of the journey.

A book for all the women in your life

This book is SOOOO good!! I feel like Jess could be one of my best friends talking to me with her willingness to be truthful and encouraging throughout this entire book. She points you right to the throne of Jesus! If you want inspiration in the slightest, then buckle your seatbelt and get ready. Pray and ready your heart to be loved by Jesus through these words and ready your heart for the action this will stir in you. Highly recommend you read and you buy a copy or ten for the women in your life.

A great book, not a great listen. read instead.

This book was solid in many ways. It's the pep talk we all need to face our fears and answer God's call. I really appreciate Jess's message that is so much more centered on God's ability than ours. She speaks to fears and gives good encouragement for naming God's call in our lives and taking the bold next step of faith.

Unfortunately, a few chapters in, her cadence, her tone turns preacher style and continues the rest of the book. Suddenly I felt much less like I was "reading" a book and felt like I was sitting in a full audience. There is an odd pause between words, a strange staccato, and sometimes she gets really fast almost out of breath. I just found myself only being able to take it in doses and wanting to get through it, rather than savor it. I would have appreciated a heartfelt reading more calmly. Let the material speak for itself, because the message is good.

I recommend this book highly if you are stuck in fear, wondering if you are the right person for your big dream or goals. It's a great book. However, if you can, READ it with your own eyes yourself. I would pass on the audible, or at least proceed with caution.

Great listen! Very inspiring!

I’m a wife, a mom, a graphic designer, and I manage an education non-profit. Before I got to this point, I was faced with many “career changes” in my life and for so long I doubted if I was in the place where God was calling me. Did I hear Him correctly? Should I be doing more? Should I stay right where I am at? All of these questions popped up many times over the years even multiple times a week. I was tired of chasing the calling rather than learning to embrace the season I was in. I was afraid of failure, rejection and false reputations. After reading “You are the Girl for the Job” I am awakened to embrace the current season I am in. I’m no longer afraid of rejection because rejection will inevitably come... but God’s opinion of me is the only thing that matters. Thank you Jess for your obedience in empowering other women to walk in their calling, rise against what others say, and live out a life God has laid before them.

I am the girl for the job

When a friend recommended this book, she had no idea what was to come. Shortly after, I was asked to work the prayer team on a women’s spiritual walk. Which is TOTALLY out of my comfort zone. But I wanted to be obedient. I’ve been fighting doubts and feelings that I’m not the one for this job. This book couldn’t of come at a better time. I love the way God plans out details so specifically! For him to lay it on my friends heart to recommend the book…knowing I was going to be asked to work this prayer team later on. Knowing I was going to have doubts. Knowing I AM THE GIRL FOR THIS JOB! God is so good. I’m going to listen to this book again because it was SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!! I also recommended it to a friend who is starting a new career journey who is having doubts. & I 100% know she is the girl for the job. I pray this book gives her confidence to do this job she is being called to. ❤️❤️❤️

Loved This Book But it Lost Steam

The reviews I read that said it got very "preachy" as it progressed were on point, unfortunately. I loved the book and being preachy usually doesn't bother me. I very much enjoy hearing different perspectives on Biblical teaching and scripture and this had a lot of that, which I loved. My only problem is that I didn't feel like it all kept to the core message and was more of a defense of the author's opinions or perceptions that was unnecessary. Her story was strong and compelling and encouraging. It didn't need the extra admonishment and it made that content somewhat offputting, even for a Christian woman reading it. I felt like it could have gone deeper into other parts of the concept and idea if not for going too hard towards an intense Southern Baptist sermon of types. The book could have had less "preachy" fluff while maintaining Biblical focus and supporting the idea with scriptures and truth. Overall it was encouraging and extremely relatable. I am going to listen to it again because I think the second time I would be more conditioned to the flow of the story and more in tune with the core message. Worth a listen for Christian women needing encouragement.

Get this book. If you're thinking of getting it, don't hesitate. It will impact you, inspire you and change your life.
I was looking for something that would help me combat the feeling of imposter syndrome and this did just that! But also more. I learnt about God's hard for my creativity, my purpose and my vision.
Thank you so much for sharing your story Jess and being so vulnerable in your dark time. I tell everyone to get this book because you're so relatable, lovable and direct!

Amazing

Love this book!

Jess openly shared her journey with the Holy Spirit. I appreciate her vulnerability as she discussed her life experiences.

I believe many of us relate to her story. This book really reflects that it's Gods grace that makes us qualified to be the right girl for the job!

Thanks
