I don't even know how to tell you how much I love

.. this book.

Words cannot adequately capture the healing infused in these words. When you add the experience of listening to Asha, it is magic. This is synesthesia for me.

I am a Queer.Deaf.Autistic occupational therapist. I am fourth generation Penobscot. I am also the child of every one of my beautiful and perfect Ancestors. Asha helps me to feel them while I do hard things, and while I do joyous things, and while I do simple things, and especially when I laugh.

As a clinical therapist and neurodiversity activist with over 20 years of experience, I know how powerful it can be to connect with Indigenous medicine - yoga, sage, visualization, etc. White women and other privileged people, especially in mental health care, should be very careful and how they treat Indigenous wisdom and medicine. We need to be centering indigenous educators and healers.

Thank you so much, Asha Frost, Healing Rainbow Medicine Woman. Miigwetch!

YOU SOAR! 🦅 [eagle emoji]

Amazing Teaching

I was drawn to the book because of the mention of ancestors on the cover, but as I listened I was reminded of my grandmother's words, "You are the most powerful magical tool you have." Each time Ms. Frost would say, "You are the medicine," I would hear my grandmother's words. Again and again, Ms. Frost gently guides us towards reclaiming our own ancestral traditions. Listening to this book has illuminated some of my own darkness and helped me find some of my own light. I would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone.

Condescending Hate Letter To "White Women"

I got this hoping to learn more about native American culture and to better understand their healing practices. But I'm honestly having a hard time making it past the authors angry, condescending intro and "letter to white women". In this day and age, it's hard to believe the actions and atrocities enacted by my ancestors and complete strangers- whom I've never even met- are still being held against me based solely on the color of my skin. Nevermind my personal individual choices and actions. I'm sorry, but it's hard to keep an open mind when I feel like I'm being condemned and roasted based on the actions of others right from the very beginning. Definitely NOT what I was expecting, and though I don't typically write reviews- I believe this may actually be my first on audible- I feel the need to warn others so they don't unknowingly make the same mistake I feel I did in purchasing this book.
