Publisher's Summary

"Riveting, smart, and utterly diabolical." (Lisa Unger, New York Times best-selling author of Confessions on the 7:45)

An unputdownable amnesia thriller that begs the question: How can you trust anyone when you can't even trust yourself?

Forget the truth.
Remember the lies.

He wakes up on a deserted beach in Maryland with a gash on his head and wearing only swim trunks. He can’t remember who he is. Everything - his identity, his life, his loved ones - has been replaced by a dizzying fog of uncertainty. But returning to his Maine hometown in search of the truth uncovers more questions than answers.

Lily Reid thinks she knows her boyfriend, Jack. Until he goes missing one night, and her frantic search reveals that he’s been lying to her since they met, desperate to escape a dark past he’d purposely left behind.

Maya Scott has been trying to find her estranged stepbrother, Asher, since he disappeared without a trace. Having him back, missing memory and all, feels like a miracle. But with a mutual history full of devastating secrets, how far will Maya go to ensure she alone takes them to the grave?

Shared fates intertwine in a twisty, explosive novel of suspense, where unearthing the past might just mean being buried beneath it.

"Skillfully plotted and paced, every twist deepens the story until it explodes with an ending that made me gasp." (Samantha Downing, USA Today best-selling author of My Lovely Wife and He Started It)

Presenters

The story was ok. The male presenter; however, drove me crazy with is droning voice. Did not care for his presentation of the character.

Save your credit

I never write reviews, however, this book was so terrible, I was compelled to share. The story was predictable, the characters uninteresting and not likable, the narration robot like. It was as if the narrator had never read the book before and EVERYTHING needed to be stressed. Most of the book it seem as though you were being shouted at. Very disturbing. I had read others' reviews before downloading. I was hooked by the "interesting twist at the ending" one reviewer spoke of. Yes, there is a twist, but it's quite lame. Don't be sucked in.

Pretty good

The story was good. It kept my attention. It was pretty predictable but had a good twist ending. I did not like the male narrator at all. I enjoyed Ash’s voice through the lady’s narration much better.

Nope!

You’re not writing the next great American novel so know your readers. We read these for entertainment value and crave the obligatory happy ending! And ALL these people are dying and disappearing and no one sees the common link?? Not believable. In my humble opinion, tried to hard to be “GONE GIRL” and missed the mark by a great distance.
Just no.

TWISTED step-SISTER

Clever, creative, interesting and MESSED UP. It’s pretty clear where this story is headed early on, but it’s suspenseful enough to hold your attention.
The only issues I have with this one are the ending 😭 😡, and the female narrators; their pitches are too similar to one another and it’s obvious they’re reading. 👏 to Alex Wyndham; I could listen to him all day!

If you can't do a British accent, don't

It's a good story BUT I wish the female voice actor (Maya) didn't 'try' to do a British, male accent. It sounded terrible and really took away from the intense scenes e.g. SPOILER - where Maya tells Ash about Kate and her death/takes medicine.
Especially because the voices of the male playing Ash and the female narrating Maya, imitating a male brit, sounds so much different. It almost sounds as though she's trying to make it comedic.
