Publisher's Summary

Harnessing the power of self-control for people who like cake, hate push-ups, and aren’t robots

Admittedly, self-control may be the least-coveted fruit of the Spirit. But the truth is that people who are successful at self-control have freer, happier lives, and we all want that. After all, our bad habits - from the slight to the serious - bring with them a host of negative emotions, take up our time, and keep us from being the best version of ourselves.

Sure, self-control is hard, but it doesn’t have to be that hard. Your Future Self Will Thank You is a compassionate and humorous guide to reclaiming your willpower based on the Bible and brain science. It shares proven, practical strategies for success, as well as biblical principles that will help you along the way.

Whether you want to lose a few pounds, conquer addiction, or kick your nail-biting habit, this book will help you get motivated, stay motivated, and achieve your goals. Get the help you need to be freer, happier, and more successful. Your future self will thank you!

One Of The Best Self Help Books To Date

Not only was this book filled with relevant application tools for self discipline, but it also had the perfect balance biblical and scientific truths that brought adeeper understanding and hope for correcting undisciplined behaviors. Just within a few days of listening to this audio book I noticed the conversations within my self talk begin to change and my will power muscle begin to grow gradually. I even shared this book with my mother and she absolutely loves it!

On point message

I really love the down to earth honesty of this book, no sugar coating here, the book doesn’t deliver a magic bullet for our dumb behavior as human beings but it is encouraging and real.

When looking for self-help look no further

I have read a lot of self help books that talk about how to make changes to live the life you want. But this one is the first one I have read that truly connects the source of self-control with the call to holiness and a life well lived! I highly recommend for every who wants to see lasting change in their lives.

Self Control is Powerful

I enjoyed the book very much. The content was something I was looking for in my spiritual journey. It was filled with hope and transparency. I appreciate the care the writer took in providing statistics, sharing the stories of others, as well as his personal struggles. There was both explanation of the complex mind and simplicity of application to our daily lives. The comparisons of how we go through our lives trying to seek things in places to fulfill our flesh was spot on. It comes down to self-control. We cannot do this on our own but by the power of God in us we're able to overcome and be successful knowing that self-control is a powerful gift to be enjoyed.

Self Control - The Basis of All Virtues

Self control is presented as the virtue upon which all other virtues are founded. The difficulties of attaining self control are described as well as ways of consciously setting up ones life to make gains in self control. Soliciting God’s help and submitting to His will is presented as the key factor for success. The serious topic is addressed with a bit of humor.

The Scripture and science of self-control

Thoroughly biblical and scientific, immensely practical, and refreshingly transparent on the author's part. More than merely another book expounding on the theology of self-control, this book answers questions about the psychological and neurological functions associated with self-control as well as strategies to help these findings work in your benefit. Good for anyone looking for a better understanding of the issue, anyone who has struggled with addiction or lack of self-control in the past, or, if you're like me, a Christian who struggles with ADHD.

Excellent

This is the best book I’ve ever listened to on self control. I think the author did a very good job of combining biblical wisdom with modern science and understanding. I thoroughly enjoyed every chapter and I plan on listening to it again

theological depth simply delivered

A healthy example of science and theology working together. Just as the Lord and Einstein intended. looking at how habits are made and unmade. Not another self help book but rather a reminder that in God we are called to maturity in action.

Well narrated too. the narrator 'owns' the text and allows you to enjoy it without distraction.
