Publisher's Summary

Are you fed up with poor-quality, pesticide-laced, and overpriced fruits and vegetables at your supermarket? It’s time to start growing your own sustainable food garden!

The catastrophes of climate change are upon us. We see floods, droughts, and wildfires on the news regularly.

But have you ever stopped to think about the impact of these events on our food supply?

Due to climate change, the number of bees and butterflies in Europe is declining rapidly. The US alone has lost 45.5 percent of its honeybee colonies from April 2020 to April 2021, according to a survey conducted by the nonprofit Bee Informed Partnership (BIP).

Here’s why these numbers are so alarming: 75 percent of global crops rely on animal pollination.

The UN World Food Program reports 957 million people don’t have enough food. Unfortunately, without pollinators, this is only going to get worse.

To compensate for the lack of pollinators, companies are using more and more chemicals to grow food, a practice that can result in serious health consequences.

What if there was a way to grow nutritious fruits and vegetables right from your own backyard garden, attract native pollinators, and encourage them to thrive, resulting in more food in your kitchen?

And what if we told you that it was far easier than you thought? Think of it as your own organic edible plants in your backyard garden landscape.

An Excellent Book! Don’t Hesitate!!!

I love a book about pollinators! I’ve raised bees in the past and so they are close to my heart. This book teaches you how to maximize your yield by natural means, pollinators, and appropriate companion gardening. It’s a great resource that I will go back to over and over!

The narration was also excellent. Very engaging and captivating. Well done! Thank you Karen for this excellent book. Looking forward to your next book!

Very nice!

The narration was great. From pollinators, weather, and native plants I’m definitely smarter after this book. I really enjoyed the chapter for year round plants and the chapter about troubleshooting. This will help me stay green and colorful!

Some books...

Sometimes I think to myself, "some books are not meant to be audiobooks, that conversion isn't quite right." This book is NOT one of those! It was such an informative lesson, a gardening desk reference on steroids. I particularly enjoyed learning that some things I am currently doing (stick to organic, no chemicals, etc) are beneficial beyond my lawn and some things... I have opportunities on. For example, I don't use chemical pesticides but I lemongrass oil spray every insect that comes my way. This is disruptive to the entire ecosystem/ pollinator community! I also learned that it does matter which crops neighbor each other or share the same space.
The delivery, pace and tone were very palatable. I am very happy this reference is now in my library!

I Learned So Much and was Captivated

This was a great read../ or rather a great listen. The narrators tone was easy to listen to and kept you engaged. But also, the content was so thoughtful and thought out! I learned facts about pollinators I never knew and more about companion planting! I just realized I should not have planted my tomato plant so close to my potatoes!

You will really enjoy this audiobook. It’s wonderful. You will learn and be entertained at the same time.

Extremely knowledgeable

I loved the content of the book. It lays out all aspects of gardening that would be beneficial to the first time gardener as well as someone who has been gardening a very long time. It was a bit difficult for me to listen to the reader as she sounded very robotic. I would highly recommend this book based on the valuable knowledge shared.

Made Me Abundant!

Before starting I was a complete mess until I listened to this. My garden was inconsistent and had no structure, but I'm glad to say now that my home garden is flowing healthy with everything it needs. I avoided some mistakes and got some tips and tricks that people don't really talk about when it comes to home gardening

such great information

Like a lot of people lately, I've been trying to come up with ways to be more self-sufficient. I considered keeping chickens, growing mushrooms, and even beekeeping, but I decided to start with a garden. I knew NOTHING before this audiobook, and now I feel totally prepared to get started! Such great info from A to Z. Fantastic narrator too.

Illuminating, captivating and insightful.

Is this audiobook worth a listen? Most definitely!!!
In fact, it’s ideal for anyone who is interested in the natural environment, healthy, nutritious home-grown food, gardening or…. if you’re like me…. all three.
Karen Shepley’s engaging writing style and sound knowledge is brought perfectly to life by Dr Michelle Carabache’s narration and, without feeling the least bit preached at, I learned such a plethora of practical tips and garnered so much beneficial information that I couldn’t wait to dodge the english rain, get out in the garden and start getting my hands dirty.
Karen Shepley is a ‘human honeybee’ for spreading the word about this absorbing and vital subject whilst communicating everything in such an easy and straightforward manner - perfect for a beginner like me.
If you’re interested in planting a natural, pesticide-free, flourishing garden whilst doing your bit to help prevent the dramatic and disastrous decline of our natural pollinators (but are maybe not quite sure how to get started) then I highly recommend you listen to this fabulous audiobook. You won’t be disappointed! 🐝🦋😀

Exactly what I was looking for!

The self sufficiency message of this audiobook particularly resonated with me. I mean who doesn’t want to provide their family with healthy, nourishing, great-tasting food whilst cutting down on rising supermarket charges?
The information provided makes it so easy to get started and the importance of attracting the different pollinators to our gardens is a fascinating and vitally important subject.
A truly engaging narrative - so many useful tips and fascinating facts such as how the daisy got its name and how bees communicate. The author and narrator both did great jobs!
I also LOVED the free bonus companion planting guide - beautifully illustrated and so helpful.
