In the heart of Paris, in the posh building made famous in The Elegance of Hedgehog, Pierre Athens, the greatest food critic in the world, is dying. Revered by some and reviled by many, Monsieur Arthens has been lording it over the world's most esteemed chefs for years, passing judgment on their creations, deciding their fates with a stroke of his pen, destroying and building reputations on a whim. But now, during these his final hours, his mind has turned to simpler things.

The Emma Goldman Collection features over 300 letters, primarily written by Emma Goldman, although other anarchists, activists and thinkers are represented as authors. The collection includes typescript drafts of articles and letters by anarchists, publications, press releases, and ephemera. Many of the letter recipients are unnamed (as "Comrade") but the majority of the letters were directed to Thomas H. Keell, compositor and editor for the anarchist periodical Freedom. 

"The Traffic in Women" is a 1910 essay by the anarchist writer Emma Goldman. It has been published as part of her work Anarchism and Other Essays (1911), and as the leading essay of the collection The Traffic in Women and Other Essays on Feminism (1970).

"On Dreams" appears in Aristotle's Parva Naturalia. He examines questions like whether dreams pertain to the faculty of thought or to that of sense-perception. In part two, he considers the circumstances of sleep and the operation of the sense organs operate. In part three he attempts to explain how dreams arise, suggesting that it is the residual movements of the sensory organs that originate them. 

Emma Goldman (1869-1940) was an anarchist political activist and writer. Here she discusses, inter alia, the split in the revolutionary movement between Bakunin and the Marxists. She recounts her experiences of the Anarchist Congress in Paris in 1900 and in Amsterdam in 1907. 

In The Psychology of Political Violence, Goldman argues “the accumulated forces in our social and economic life, culminating in an act of violence, are similar to the terrors of the atmosphere, manifested in storm and lightning”. She discusses various examples of violent political acts that had taken place in Europe and the US since the 1890s.  

In her essay "The Tragedy of Woman’s Emancipation", Goldman argues that the notion of woman’s emancipation seems to reinforce social antagonism brought about by existing interests. She claims that, in light of the reorganization of social life based on the principles of economic justice, the artificial boundary lines between men’s and women’s rights would disintegrate into a perfect whole.

Published in the February 1916 issue of her magazine, Mother Earth, Goldman states that it is only by totally rejecting the idea of God that mankind can break away from the crutch of religion and achieve true freedom. Goldman argued that religion is irrational, destructive, and harmful.
